Oh noes we are done. They are now calling it a triple polar vortex, not a single or double, but a triple. What will we do?

Much like every other industry they are recycling and reusing the same polar vortex three times while marketing them as new and different.

Got about 3/4 inch of snow last night but it melted as soon as the sun came out. Tonight supposed to get 1.4in . This could be most snow before Christmas in decades.

I said the "south". The nearest "town" to where I was with the forecast is ceasing to exist. They lost their post office and I'm sure the name on the map will be next. The nearest community is "White city" which I wonder how long that will stay on the map.

Well here in southwest MS today near a town nobody has ever heard of, about 100 miles northeast of Baton Rouge, LA and 100 miles north of New Orleans it was 77F today and we under a cold weather advisory lol, 20F Sunday night. 7pm here and it's still 70F.

Yeah, Florida panhandle here. Was in the 70s today, we'll use the AC tonight, and then 30 Monday morning. Fucking thing sucks. Luckily being on the coast means we generally stay a bit more moderate with the temperatures.

I do a decent amount of work for Air Liquide at their large plants. I'm 99% sure I have driven through your town.

Maybe. It's not my town, my parents live here near a town of 500 or so that is nearly a dead end in the national forest. Most traffic goes thru larger towns along the interstate 30 miles away or so. Nothing comes here.

I support the 75 or so chemical plants and refineries between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, I live in east, TX and work remotely and have for the last 35 years. Been in probably half of them but like you mentioned a lot of the 75 are stuff like air products and such adjacent to a large plant. But I'm retired now. Intersting things happen when it gets single digits. They call me, I deal with the 3 Bs. Something broke down, something burned up, something blew up.

It's 15F (-10C) here. Not strong winds. Spent a few hours today skating on our pond. Ice is about 6 inches thick. Great way to spend an afternoon. Snow was falling all day, but nothing accumulated. Our road still has not been plowed this year. A three or so inch thick sheet of ice on the road, but holes in the ice, making it the worst road in the area. I almost got the tractor out to scrape a couple of miles, but I'm not spending my money and equipment on what the county won't do.

Gonna be cold here for the foreseeable future. Good thing I have lots of hay for the animals.

Not enough precip for a major snowstorm, like everyone else the story is the temperature drop and the high winds after the system moves through. Will see how many football games get affected although the night game is in Dallas.

Still at my parents in southwest MS. Not only was it 77F yesterday now at midnight it's still 64f and we're having a thunderstorm. Depending on how fast it gets headed to 20F tomorrow may be a really shitty day on the roads with a bridge every 20 feet.

Edit - 10 minutes after I posted that power outtage for 2 hours. Better when it's 60 then 20.

I looked up how many out on my phone. Was a low number, was out for an hour then came back on for 10 minutes. Then off again. The number reported out tripled when the power came back on. Ooops.
