There's straight GLP-1 like ozempic and then tirzepatide (GLP-1 and GIP) like Mounjaro. I've taken both and after initial side effects (really bad nausea) Ozempic seemed to have less overall side effects for me. That said, they're all really manageable. The worst I get now is a lot of heart burn.

The shit does work though, but I think there are people abusing them. I went on it for the betes but hang out on the mounjaro sub and you'll see tons of people taking it that really shouldn't.

My guess is the pills will have less side effects because you're taking it daily rather than a "big" shot once per week.

Speaking of it. Only started tracking in Feb but I started at 235 in late October.

If your goal is 15-20 pounds I'd say just eat less.

However, ideal path is PCP > a place like hims/ro > some sketchy ass site

Walk 3-5 miles a day, and it'll should come off in 6 months or less (I worked my way up to 5 miles a day 1/mile per week and I was at 190 in the first 3 months starting from 5'10" 208lbs). I was burning ~400-500 calories and I tried not to eat more "because I burned calories off" and it dropped pretty quickly. A plateau here or there, but it's easy to do and pretty low effort. Aim for a 15 minute mile just to make sure you aren't dragging ass.

It's easy to say hard to do, but start treating food like fuel not enjoyment. Eat what is necessary to eat, not what you like to eat.

People treat food like a reward, just eat chicken breast and vegetables, it's not a "culinary experience." Get used to it and you won't care about snacks and treats because they will taste nasty to you; and they undo the work you did in eating whole, healthy foods.

Secondary benefit is you save hundreds/thousands a month not eating out.

I stopped even going to the grocery store.

If I eat breakfast at all, it's eggs, which I get from a farmer. I make my own bread, a loaf lasts a month. I just tell the wife to pick me up a family pack of chicken breasts and a gallon of milk every other week.

The only thing I really spend money on is blueberries. They're the "treat." 1 blueberry is roughly one calorie.

I just don't know why they're so fucking expensive, but I guess everything is. Still cheaper and better than Cheetos.

Don't get me started on berries. They've always been obscenely expensive. Especially when you compare cost to calories. I think theyre the worst item in the entire store in that regard.

For fucking sure.

I mean, we bought a couple blueberry bushes last year, but for some reason I doubt that will cover my yearly intake

But hey $16 a week on blueberries or chocolate and bullshit?

Preaching to the choir. I just think going on a heavy medicine for essentially a couple poops worth of weight is a recipe for disaster

I mean you can do what it takes to lose weight or not, up to you. It's not fun to eat less and be hungry constantly when trying to lose weight, thats why its so hard.

Used to be overweight/borderline obese, new normal BMI for a decade. There really just is no other way IMO we have a total cultural problem in the US around food you can either accept it and make your own personal change or not.

It's definitely hard when food is one of the only things that brings me any kind of contentment these days. Pretty much only get through my days by having tasty meals to look forward to. Only way I can manage the low calories is being able to cheat on the weekends and just eat whatever I feel like. Not having that would be miserable.

You can lose weight without ceasing to enjoy food. If that's what you want to do, that's great, but that's not a life I want to live.

I absolutely love my diet. My ex didn't eat any red meat or pork, she only ate chicken. I actually have forgotten because it's been so long, but she tried the vegetarian shit for awhile in high school until her hair started falling out. So she settled on chicken. I don't like beef enough to buy it just for myself, so I just ate whatever she was having.

I grilled A LOT of chicken. A fuckton. I was grilling 2-3 times a week, year round. I got REALLY good at grilling chicken, and I found a marinade I cannot get enough of. People look at my diet and think "oh, chicken and blueberries again?" Bro, this is the best part of my day. I have been eating it every day for lunch for - fuck, 4 years now? It doesn't get boring, it doesn't get old. I need the blueberries because I'm always craving something sweet after a meal, and that just cuts that shit right out. And since I found a flavor pallette I not only can tolerate, but enjoy eating, I get all the benefits and none of the downside.

I will admit that I am probably genetically predisposed to not having menu fatigue. My dad ate a tuna sandwich and an apple for lunch every day the entire time I was growing up. My sister and I also theorize thats why my dad is fucking insane - that's a fuckload of mercury over 20+ years.

As far as the other shit goes - I've kinda just settled on this. We consider being fit and overall health to be a virtue. You have the discipline and self control to stay a reasonable weight and with reasonable muscle mass. Discipline and self control are virtues that serve you well in many aspects of life - employment, budget, etc. The drugs give you a fake way of getting there - you get there with none of the virtue. I understand it's probably a good thing from a health perspective - if you lack the discipline and self control to fix it yourself, then yes, you'll live longer and live better if you can artificially get there. But it's not the same as someone who just puts in the fucking work.

It's the same reason the bodybuilding community has all that natty or not shit - because if you took a bunch of drugs to look good, how virtuous is that? People judge you for it, and probably rightly so. It's very likely going to end up being the same with the GLP's. "oh, you took drugs to get thin? Ah, I thought you were natty" ~unsubbed.
