Yeah I can't imagine losing weight on vacation. Half the reason I would visit a place is to check out the food there.

I just don't care about eating anymore. The medicine makes your mind a bit weird in that regard.
I am so curious to experience this first hand. I was formerly morbidly obese and have since channeled by tendencies in to non-destructive behavior. I have a good body composition these days, but the mental space is still 'living between meals'.

I did some fishing around with my GP to see how receptive he would be for a low dose GLP-1 option without much hope. He was more positive than I expected. Mentioned insurance likely wouldn't cover it, but he trusts a compounding pharmacy in town and would be willing to send through that route.

I have never recovered from that portion of being obese (or maybe it is why I became obese in the first place). I want to know what 'normal' hunger cues feel like or at least get closer. I kind of know now through consistent reinforcement and tracking, but the idea that some people push food away and are like 'nah, I'm good' blows my mind.

It is tough to explain sufficiently, but the first time it happened I immediately thought wait this is how normal people feel??

In my case I felt it immediately on the lowest dose of ozempic as if someone flipped a switch on day 1, and aside from a few rare occasions it had never been switched again. There are.some occasions towards the end of my shot (day 5/6) where I get a little hungry.

I do still get hungry around normal meals and I still fat order (ie my mind still thinks I need to eat everything), but I find at certain point my mind goes nope you're good stop eating. I have NEVER had that in my life before this. I could never stop eating.

due to my back injury and neuropathy, it made me inactive and I put on a bunch. After being obese and turned down for glp's I decided to say fuck it and restructured my entire diet and eating habits.

Portions are strictly controlled, and I'm lucky that if I like a food, I can eat it every day and never grow tired of it. I eat pretty much the same food each and every day, I drink no calories and I have almost zero sugars that aren't natural.

I'm down about 40lbs so far. My doctor is monitoring everything but they say all is well with my body so far and if this is what works then keep doing it.

I had a piece of birthday cake yesterday as a treat to join in on celebrating my son/and it tore me the hell up. My body shot it out of me like a cannon so i wont be doing that again anytime soon.

To me I see this because I've been going to doctor appointments with my brother a lot and spending a lot of time with him, and seriously, like half the conversations he has are about food. Like what he wants to get when we're done with this appointment, this location has better fries than that one, this restaurant changed their formula and it sucks now. Even the (cancer) pills he's having to take, he's talking about some of them are chalky and taste bad, others are okay.

Like I absolutely just do not give a shit about food, I eat, but I don't look forward to it and it's not an enjoyable activity to me, never has been. When I get hungry I'll make one of the same 5 meals I pretty much always eat.

Different people care about different things, like BrutulTM BrutulTM saying one of the primary things on vacation is checking out their food. MOST people are like this, so I'm not criticizing. I realize I'm the different one here. But I just don't care about restaurants or food or trying different foods. I can taste the difference but it doesn't bring me joy at all, it's just eating.

Different strokes for different folks. Personally I think being freed from food is a blessing, other people spend a significant portion of their day worrying about what they're going to eat and where to eat and how much its' going to cost, I just go home and make chicken and rice and vegetables.

Yeah, I love a good steak or any other 'treat' meal, but i'm pretty indifferent as far as getting/making it and if I don't, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Perfectly content eating the same things over and over, whatever they happen to be at any given time. When I was meal-prepping for a bit I was just doing chicken, assorted uncle ben's microwave rice packets (pricier than cooking my own rice but flavor options on top of ease) and mushrooms/broccoli/whatever other veggies i'd grab, and then a bunch of shredded cheese on top of it all.

I've also never really been a huge snacker. My dad and one of my brothers both started snacking constantly once they went to work-from-home during the covid bs, but I can sit around the house all day and not ever really even want a snack.

Well im the opposite of you guys. I love food. I love shopping for the ingredients, I love cooking it and I love to share it with my family and friends. I had interest in cooking since I was a kid. I remember cooking dinners for me and my mom when she had to work long hours after school. IDK Ive always enjoyed it. This is why we never eat out because we dont need to and actually none of my immediate family members even want to go out to eat when I suggest it. Maybe we snag a pizza here and there when we all have no time or whatever.

Bah the funny thing about that is I definitely was guilty of going to a different fast food location because it was "better". Like the BK across the street is shitty but the one a mile down the road made stuff better.

Also for awhile I think they knew my name.

Reminds me of my 20s. I used to hit the Taco Bell down the street so much they recognized my car. I would pull up to the speaker, and the girl would recite my usual order before I could.

Snacking is a terrible habit in general imo. Fasting is great for you, and a lot of studies are start to point to the idea that its especially bad for kids. And a lot of time snacking is just crap extra calories you just don't need.

I don't think the problem is loving food/looking forward to food in general. Enjoying life in every aspect is a positive in my view. The problem is a lot of perpetual fatties, and I was 100% guilty of this decades ago when I was a fatty, only looking forward to the worst kinds of food. Fast food/fries/greasy shit, ice cream ect. To me a part of conquering the love for food was training myself to love healthy food. Now a large majority of what I eat is just veggies and chicken.

It took at lot of work and time to train myself to like every vegetable. But now I go buy something like broccoli and I find myself looking forward to eating a plate of broccoli, brussel sprouts, squash, or whatever else. I especially love the fresh tomatos I grow. Breakfast today is going to be a bowl of boiled collard greens, and I'm looking forward to it.

I mean, it's true though. There's a dramatic difference in some cases (with likely reasons better discussed in other threads). I also love not giving a shit about food now though.
The weightloss has been slowing down a lot recently for me. I really have to start increasing my activity levels.

Hmm. How do you feel about drugs, booze and cigarettes then? Ozempic is now used off label for addiction too. Two sides of the same coin it seems.

Eating is a rather insidious addiction, though, as most people don’t manage to stop no matter what they feel about it.
