I remember the wife and I watched Season 1 and I absolutely loved it. Then for whatever unexplicable reason we never even started season 2 and the more I read the happier I am that in my head this show ended with Season 1.
The same way I tell people with GoT, "Watch this series until you see a season finale that shows Daenerys sailing across the ocean with her dragons. STOP RIGHT THERE, Assume she vanquishes the evil queen and call it a day. "
With multiple IP properties now I think it breaks down to something pretty simple. When a team of "modern day writers" are handed a well written treatment with a full plot, characters, and arcs outlined well they can manage to put together a good show. Then they hit the edge where they no longer have books (GoT), or no longer have the original people who wrote the original treatment (which is what I think happened with Westworld) and from that point go forth but by the grace of God... best of luck!
