I like the remix more, but it could be due to hearing it before the original.

That remix isn't doing it for me. I first heard them on a BBC mix with Annie Mac, she does dance tunes, and it was mixed in with other stuff but even in its original form it seemed to work in that context. ...might have been a different track though.
