Jedi Fallen Order since it was free on PS+. So far I suck it feels a lot clunkier than say, Elder Ring. And the main character looks like he is retarded.

Yeah I was super disappointed in the engine. Felt so sluggish.

Picked up a free copy of madden 21 on steam a while back and I have been almost addicted to it, despite its countless flaws..

I only play franchise mode, and damn do I love building teams then doing the slow-simulation of the matches so I can watch them in the background while doing other stuff.

The trade system, draft system, free agency, etc are all quite bad. but even worse is that most of the time the game does not give a shit if a 55 rated left tackle is playing vs a 99 rated pass rusher(or any other similar matchups). I'm not sure what, if any, player ratings actually affect the outcome of a simulated match. but for some reason I can still have fun by lying to myself and thinking who I pick up in a fantasy draft matters.

Most recently I have been doing fantasy drafts as GM of one AFC team and one NFC team. One team I draft only offense for the first 16~ picks, and the other team defense. and see who gets to the SB first, or if I can get them playing each other for SB. has been pretty fun.

I would never spend a penny on madden and I hope nobody else does. The game shows just enough potential good, that it makes the lack of effort by EA infuriating. I hope I am still alive when EA loses the license and someone else is allowed to make a good franchise sim.

Favorite part in general is just building something then letting it play out type of game. so I can multi task while playing. if anyone has other suggestions, except fifa because soccer sucks
I was having fun doing the general manager thing in Madden when it became clear over many seasons my team wasn't doing much better despite massively better player ratings from when I started. So, I made a QB with all 1 ratings in every category and simmed until he retired. He had three MVPs for his career. He also had seasons with as many interceptions as touchdowns. It's totally bogus. Stopped playing after that.

I didn't do the in game simulation so maybe that's different, but I would be surprised.

Agreed, wasn't into Jedi Fallen Order. I finished it, but never particularly loved it or anything. The lightsaber visuals / customization really carried it for me. Ended up making a Darth Maul double-saber, which was pretty cool. Broke the game midway through by getting to that one part on Kashyyk with endlessly-respawning stormtroopers, glitching onto the roof, and chopping through them until I was like level 30 or something and breezed through the rest. Felt like it could have been a lot more and most of the issue was the controls being so sluggish (and the map being really, really unhelpful).

What am I playing now...not much, I'm mostly collecting games I want to play this year rather than actually playing. Backlog was the most minimized it's ever been at the end of 2022 and now it's inflating again, but it's whatever.

Finally finished Crisis Core, got the platinum. Still a good game. Now I'm rolling right into another FF spinoff: Loaded Stranger of Paradise back up since it has two DLCs and a third (final) one in a week. They did a really nice job with the game and it's super underrated, especially now with the DLCs that add a lot. After that I'm gonna take a stab at finally beating THPS 1 and 2 (remakes). Ever since that came up on here a couple weeks ago I've been thinking it's gotta be doable if I put my mind to it.

Finally getting around to D:OS 2.

Ifan - Marksman, Geomancer, Summoning
Fane - Warfare, Necromancy
Sebille - Scoundrel, Polymorph
Lohse - Aerothurge, Pyrokinetic, Hydrosophist

I have no idea what I'm doing but it seems to be working. I escaped the starting area last night. Playing on tactician mode.

After having Youtube recommend a video to me out of the blue, I spent a week going deep down a Youtube rabbit hole, then four days reinstalling Skyrim and assembling a sizable mod list (for me at least; I historically trend more towards minimalism in modding), and I'm now a few days into doing my first Skyrim run in eight or so years. I hadn't realized just how much I had missed this damn series.

Man, I hope the gap between Starfield and TES6 will end up being narrower than is typical for Bethesda.

If you're playing on PC, there is a mod that lets you play all 6 characters. Lets you experience all the side quests and character arcs, since all quests tied to the main characters stop if they are not in your party. Using 6 also lets you specialise in skills more since you don't have to spread them out so much and you can also pick one character per type of weapon, so loot will usually be upgrades instead of just vendor fodder.

Only downside to it is that it makes tactician a bit easier, but not by that much.

Free pet pal. There is a lot of talking to animals, so a must have trait, this just gives it for free.

If you care about achievements, there is also

A+ game, but it's a very long game, so with the full party mod, you can experience everything in one playthrough.

Thanks for the tips. I'm enjoying the game a lot so I will probably do another playthrough with the the dwarf and lizard and different builds.

Finished the first DLC for Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, haven't started the 2nd yet, 3rd is in 3 days and I want to get into it on launch.

The DLCs follow each other in order and extend the main game. So you have to beat the main story to unlock DLC 1, and DLC 1 to unlock DLC 2, etc. No skipping ahead.

A word of advice to anyone else who plays SOPFFO. The game is divided up like this:
-The main story (goes up to item level 70 or so)
-Chaos mode postgame (kind of like FF7R's hard mode, you can do areas in any order and they go up to item level 300)
-DLC 1 (goes up to item level 400)
-DLC 2 (up to 500)
-DLC 3 (presumably up to 600)

And the advice is, they designed the game to emulate World of Warcraft in that each of the above tiers totally obsoletes the previous tier pretty much immediately. So there's no point in grinding copious amounts of loot from any particular tier, 'cause one mission into the next one and you're probably replacing all your gear with new stuff. I wish I'd known this before I started the game because I'm guessing I've spent 10-15 hours grinding loot unnecessarily. Situations where it turned out that I didn't need all that stuff, or the next tier up just destroyed whatever I brought from the pinnacle of the previous tier.

Also, anyone who loves grinding for loot, this game sure has a lot of it. Though see above in terms of how necessary it is. Need to do one big grind for gear at the start of every tier and that's it, rest is just grinding currency or whatever (which often also gets obsoleted, except for things like Rat Tails and Anima Crystals).

If they can get some dailies and weeklies thrown in there, maybe a few loot boxes, they may have a hit in their hands.

Fire Emblem: Engage.

The characters and story is worse than it was for Fates. Actually, they decided to step into it and embrace how cheesy it is (which is better than actually trying to be serious and failing, I guess).

But the gameplay is top notch Fire Emblem.

Yunaka is part of that cheesiness but is also an amazing evasion tank as a thief.

Decided to pick up the ghost of Tsushima expansion / ps5 upgrade. Was only$20 since I had the original game on my PS4. Was going to do a new game + but my stupid ass deleted all the save games.
4k graphics are gorgeous , and this was such a fun game I don't really have issue with starting from scratch.

Lot of Ghost of Tsushima talk lately. Has anyone played the DLC expansion, Ikishima Island or something like that? How is it?

Elden Ring for the fifth time.......
Had just beaten GOW Ragnorok and Tactics Ogre before that. Elden Ring has spoiled me for all othe games, gameplay wise, and GOW for story. And once you play Tactics Ogre, there basically is not another tactics RPG worth playing.

Yeah, I got ahold of Diofield Chronicle, Triangle Strategy, and Tactics Ogre. If I actually play all of them, TO is going last since I already know it'd ruin the others for me. What'll probably end up happening is that I'll check the first two out for a bit, get bored, and just play TO. That and Front Mission 2 (whenever it comes out) are probably enough SRPG for me in 2023.
