Just finished it. Surprisingly good. They shouldn't have made the cover photos look so gay - would have maybe paid for it.

The Temple of Elemental Evil. 10 bucks on Steam.

It doesn't have the story or ridiculous romance options of Baldurs Gate, but man as a pure tactical dungeon crawler it might have it beat. And the new steam version plays very well with 25 years worth of updates baked in.

I'll reluctantly admit that I gave up on the real end boss and chose the weak ending instead just to complete the game and move on. I spent about 2 hours trying to beat him but threw in the towel. Backlog is too big for that stuff.

I replayed Sekiro over vacation so I got the itch for deflection gameplay.

You'll do way better than I did. I got stuck in Sekiro (after really enjoying it) at that one guy at the top of the building. I like to think that is one of the most common quitting spots in all of video gaming.

Try it again and play it understanding that you hyper aggressively attack until the enemy deflects you. Then you deflect them. You do not really try and dodge out of stuff most of the time.

Once you start doing that the way to play really opens up and it gets more and more awesome. Everything except Red Kanji attacks, which require using the Mikiri counter, can be deflected.

also you don't have to time parry. you just rapidly mash the button like you're playing contra 1. your guy will wiggle his sword in his hands like a goofy spaz. that's how you know you're doing it right.

Just started it last night. Guess the new FSR 4 driver (for my 7900xtx) fucked with the engine as I had to add -dx11 to the game to make it constantly stop crashing. I was playing the mortal shell 2 demo and had a hankering for a souls like then realized I LoP a while ago and never played it.

Played the OG version, that was one buggy mofo when it first came out. Good game though.

It's pretty amazing now. Tons of fixes and content updates. Plays like a brand new game. Albeit with old school mechanics. No crashes but don't rely on autosave. Make a separate manual save when you end your session.

But this game is so fucking hard-core you better save after every successful battle.

I've spent days on one fight. Thinking I have it beat and some fool dies towards the end and I can't afford resurrection.

I picked up Lies of P a while ago on a steam sale. I SUCK at these types of games but LoP gives a difficulty option. I have no problem picking 'I suck hold my hand' level. It's finally clicking with me. I've died to falling or mistiming runs than I have to Mobs. I even bought the DLC last night. Really good game.
