And yes, I think waiting for the supersport would be an alright reason, but I don't think it changes any of the interior trimVWVortex.com - S3 Sedan Configurator

I'm just kinda pissed of that the u.s. spec 2-toned seats is the exact opposite of the Rest of World spec I think it looks stupid with just that center piece as red. I guess it's cheaper for them to do the entire seat in one color, and then just use one set of colors for one market and then the other pieces for the u.s. market.

I've never worked in mass production, but I'm "assuming" that's the reason.

And p.s. I really really wish alcantera would have been offered in the u.s. I love the feel of it.
I really want the alcantara as well to be honest. Nappa bolsters with the alcantara centers would be perfect. Really disappointed we don't get all of the options due to certification/options restricting.

The two tone makes no sense because it is exactly the opposite of the ROW spec. It's a little loud for me, I'd rather have contrast stitching myself but again, limited options because we're just not the same kind of market that Europe is.

Yeah, I have and actually prefer the Alcantara on my S4. Got black leather with silver Alcantara. More comfortable in the summer vs leather and has a plush/soft feeling to it. I did get the Black Beaufort wood/aluminum trim though (an extra $1k) which looks really sweet, though I would have liked if they had covered more surfaces with it for the price.

I figure there will probably be a really nice aftermarket for the A3, too, (People driving evos, or not satisfied with their subarus, or with the direction bmw is taking their 3 have to migrate somewhere eventually) so I'm looking forward to that. If not, getting the seats reupholstered could be about 1000 from just quick googling.

Hmmm, I know I'm pretty set on the A3 cabriolet that I ordered (it was a pretty basic package, so they didn't make me put any money down or anything), but just saw car and driver's preview of the bmw 2 convertible... fucker looks sharp, and I could get it in manual... and all wheel drive ticks the blocks that I "require"... BMW looks much better from the outside, but I actually prefer the A3 interior, although I think bmw is much more likely to offer decent sporty color choices like that red interior which just looks like pure sex... hmmmm...

I think I'll stick with the A3, but It'll be very interesting to see the inevitable comparisons that car mags will do between the a3 convertible, 2 series convertible and mercede's new c-class convertible.

Yeah that's almost exactly the one we have, same color and all. Ours is a bit bigger, I think. Great car except needing Premium gas. Very, very comfortable and quiet. I like it more than the Lexus LX and it's half the price.

As someone who has owned 3 BMW's, I would recommend you stick to your decision. Though it's entirely subjective of course, I feel my S4 blows away any of the BMW's I've previously owned. I'm not talking speed, but the whole package. Just a small list of things I prefer on my S4 vs my previous fully loaded Z4 and 3 series.

- Softer and higher quality plastic throughout the cabin
- More comfortable seats
- Less rattling
- No run flat tires
- Superior NAV system
- WiFi Hotspot in car
- Volume controls next to stick-shift (I LOVE this)
- Next "GPS" turn indicated in instrument cluster
- Sunglass holder built into rear view mirror
- Ebrake automatically disengages if you accelerate as long as your seat belt is on
- Shopping bag "restraints" in trunk
- More comfortable ride, even in Dynamic mode
- Pressure activated door locks
- Cooler interior trim options like carbon fiber and Beaufort wood.

The only things I miss on my BMW's are the windshield wipers (Audi blades suck), the BMW SOS button, and the side seat bolster controls that came with the M seats.

100% valid points, because 3 series. Even the M3/M4 has a "meh" interior. But, the 5's and 7's great and 95% of what the Audi is like inside, plus way better performance (except RS7, that car is a fucking monster and super badass).

Considering looking at a new car now that I will be going back to the city. Will keep my trucks as well but more of my driving will be either in town or commuting out of the city on a regular basis. Single, no kids and over 40. So I don't need a car for 4 people etc..The 370Z interested me but have haven't sat in one yet. Also not looking for any interior options other than comfort. I don't care if it was GPS, wifi, bluetooth or anything else you can really think of, in fact most cars I ride in that have a video type screen annoy the hell out of me. I want to go from point A to point B with some degree of comfort and still have a bit of sportability to it. Also I am 6'-1 if that matters. I only mention it because a friend got an Audi TT when they first came out and I literally couldn't see how a person over 5'9 even got into the thing.

Should definitely take a look at the Z then. I was the same; 6'2", don't care about heated seats/GPS/other creature comfort stuff. I've had it for about 3 1/2 months and I absolutely love it. Only thing I wish it had was lumbar support, but the keyless entry and ignition, and rev match are awesome. Handles like a beast and it's fast.

Cool, thanks for the info. Did you notice any big differences in terms of interior build quality-- such as more plastic?

I pretty much share the same view concerning the size of the vehicle-- the S4 just like a BMW 3 series is a BIG car imho.

BTW, make sure to splurge on the air suspension and the sports diff. Both of those proved to be the best options on my S4 that I almost didn't get.

@Buren: Will definitely keep my eye on it. I was really interested in the 1M when it came out in 2011, but it was literally impossible to get one. My only problem is that my last few cars were BMW's, and the creaking/rattling in both from all the cheap hard plastic BMW uses in the lesser series' models was a big turn off. By the time each one had 20,000 miles they sounded like I was riding around in a NYC taxi.
I was basically in the same boat on the increased size of the 3 series over the years. I have a 2003 3 series and hated the E90 models and was close to getting the M1 but no way I could get a good deal on one. I went with a 2013 335XI MSport w/ Sport Transmission, Dynamic handling (M Adaptive Suspension), Tech package, M Performance package. ~62k MSRP but its pretty easy to knock off 3k or so and pay ~500-1000 above invoice.
Black winter tires in my images but I like the look of the M tires it came with better.

Thanks that is good news. I have never had a car with heated seats. I wish I had cooled seats in my truck at times tho but it's not a deal breaker at all. We have speed limits here which go from 70to75. But I commonly drive 80-85 and often get passed by law enforcement that waves. Of course that may change if I'm driving something like that lol. Going to check it out when I get back to town that has a decent sized dealership.

The last generation Corvette has been the most comfortable sports car I have been in yet, and I would imagine the current gen is good as well. I have been on 5, 12 hour road trips in it, and found it more tolerable than the other 4 vehicles I have made the trip in. I would say the drive was almost enjoyable, but driving from Dallas to Illinois is rather boring, no mater the vehicle. I have read many disparaging comments on the seats, but most of them are on the inadequacies of the seats when you are on the track. Which I agree that you slide around to much during aggressive driving. It also has more leg room than I estimated before getting in it. At 6'0, I can lock my knees if try. My dad is 6'4 and had no issue driving it.

White van with blacked out windows huh? Do you have candy, a crossing guard uniform, and an air mattress in the back?

P.S: I bet your license plate says "je me souviens" on it, right? Please grab a Lafleur's steam dog in memory of those of us that fled the Marois regime.
Camion Dorval would indicate that it was in Montreal, so I assume thats where you got the guess of it having a Je me Souviens on the plate. but this is an old pic for camion Dorval doesnt exist anymore.

as for Marois regime, thats over now. But I left the province for others reasons too much stress in people, and I hate the traffic.

Yeah, 5 and 7 series have nicer interiors and also cost considerably more than the S4 he's comparing it to.

Of course they cost more, I realize that. My point was that you can't judge BMW interiors by the 3 series since they can't hold a candle to the other models offered. Audi, however, seems to have good interiors all around, regardless of the particular model.

It's kinda sad that the new 2 has a nicer looking interior than the 3 (even with that horrible position of the lcd screen, it's like it was added as an afterthought)

My dad has owned 2, Something about it having enough curb weight to be able to be registered as a commercial vehicle, and then was able to be "written off" as a farm expense with the offroad package and brushguard.
