We hit Eagle's Canyon a couple of times per year. But, from the Houston area, its kind of a pain. Still, you're right about E.C.
Eagle's Canyon had a bunch of walls in really shitty places and gigantic ditches in runoff areas last time I was there, which granted was like 2014-2015.

It’s a decent spot, it’s just not a Grand Prix circuit designed to the max. Still a nice track.

Cresson was my favorite by far, but I enjoyed COTA and ECR as well. Did you ever go to Hallett ?

Nope, not familiar with that one. I’ve only been tracking for 3 years and haven’t been to many places. Still lots to try. I’ll Google it.

That's pretty sweet, besides the wheels. And it's a bit too slammed, and I'd use LED headlights of some sort, but that's easy.
NICE
Yeah, super simple revisions to make it your own. It looks like a fun kit and that 86s are fun little cars too.

Ah, yeah. After looking around for when the color was introduced, it looks like the Firehawk didn't come in DSOM.

DSOM is Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic, which was introduced in 2001. They ran a bunch of ads with a DSOM Trans Am that year. Dodge also made a similar color and put it on the iconic 2005 Viper Copperhead Edition.
Came across a nice DSOM one tonight with just 29k miles that looked like it was in real good shape but it was on facebook and I dunno if I even want to consider attempting buying a car from someone via facebook.

Guess it depends what kind of interest places are going to actually give me if I go for a trans am, too. Kia motor finance will give me good rates if I go the new kia route but I feel like everyone's gonna try and double digit me if I go the trans am route despite having super high credit/etc. just because they can/don't care if I don't take their loans.

Facebook marketplace has become sort of the defacto private party sales site now. Sucks for someone like me who refuses to get facebook.

Consider this the universe concurring that it's a bad idea. A car like that shouldn't be a daily driver, especially in a state that gets snow. Save your money, bank the savings from what you would pay for this expensive boondoggle, and buy one to be a garage queen at such a time you're financially capable of buying it for cash.

People are trading in cars when they are $10,000+ underwater on them? wtf

I could see it. People taking long loans at high rates on cars they really can't afford and then trading them in every couple years to get the new shiny doesn't seem too shocking to me.

Ended up going with the k5 gt this morning. Didn't know anything about matte paint when I chose the steel grey matte but there's a self-service car wash like 2 minutes down the road from me so not too big of a deal, and I do like the color. I'm gonna have to mess around with the audio and stuff in the morning and see if there are some settings I can tweak but without touching anything, I feel like the Harmon Kardon on my old forte gt-line sounded better than the Bose on this one.

Of course its because of having x-drive, you don't need cv joints if you have a rear wheel drive car (no axles in the front then). Tires don't make any difference to clunking sounds at full lock. Cold doesn't make any difference except that the grease in the CV joints doesn't work well when it's cold, causing exactly the clunking you're hearing.

It shouldn't be clunking at full lock.

Its warmer now and the sound is gone.

i just did this w/ my pc, i heard a thock, 4seconds, thock, 4seconds, thock, pretty sure an airbubble was trapped in the pump, i gave it an italian tune up, ramping everything to 100% and it went away after 30mins

My RWD cars with large front tires and aggressive alignments will clunk or stutter/skip while turning at low speeds like a driveway or parking lot. The tires don’t like the angle or load. As I think about it, it’s mostly while reversing.

So today's entry in "The surprise expenses never stop"...

Had the rear passenger tire in my caddy losing around 1lb of pressure every couple days, I believe if you recall I talked about this before in here and they found and fixed a flat (screw in the tire). It started again. I figured with the amount of construction going on around my neighborhood (between road construction and homes being torn down and rebuilt) I probably picked up another and just didn't find it when I was looking.

Take it in, the tire place checks it out. I'm at home and I get a text from them that's a receipt for a "0$ flat fix" so I head over to pick up my car. When I get there the guy tells me "Yeah, we had to ring up something to clear the work order on it. The actual problem is you have a cracked rim."

Now I'm once again having the debate of "just buy a replacement OEM wheel" since I like these wheels, buy a fresh set of 4 after market rims (which not surprisingly isn't that much more expensive than one Caddy OEM wheel), Or pop the tire/wheel off and take it around the corner to the non-descript wheel shop running out of the back of a Mexican Flea Market and have them weld the wheel...

Thinking the flea market is going to win while I debate the other options...
