Not actually shopping but just spur of the moment navel gazing. I like less common stuff. Still love my F type other than the existential anxiety of something going wrong. Hated my mustang. (GT500 still something I'd love to rent at least)
I noticed Maserati's a fair amount out here. Surprising, but OK seems to get a lot of models that go to die and have poor dealership support and come here to die. I've watched random Throttle house video's etc, but I'm not really up to date with what they offer, I assume they are even worse than the jag for having a grand tour fast option that doesn't shit the bed before 100k miles?
In a few years will be starting to shop for a new car unless my shitbox commuter finishes converting me to just being old and not wanting to tie up money in a car I agonize over trying to keep nice and running. The c8 grandsport was high on the list for being it sounded like a bit more torquey and better sounding than a full track weapon, better daily. On other hand I've been watching the little teases about the new Celica closely since the GR GT is well outside my range. Not sure what else might pop up in the next couple years, though essentially plan is finding something cool from the last 5 years that has depreciated nicely. Not sure if any of the Aston's I'd be interested in might be hitting that 40-60k budget by then.

Maserati is a dead brand.
Used they have FIAT reliability with Ferrari repair costs. Friend had one. Back to back transmission repairs. By back to back I mean in the span of two weeks. Parked it in his garage for a couple years and an engine ECU shit the bed sitting there. Took a bath on resale. They are cheap for a reason.

Man, do not ever buy a Maserati. An Aston Vantage with the 4.7 NA V8 is a good buy, if it comes with service history. Keep it maintained, keep miles on it and it will be fine.

Coworker had one and minor shop visits were always thousands of dollars. Changing the oil was something ridiculous too. Oh and the insurance was absolutely retarded, and he bought it used for like 35k. I was like dude you could have had an actual badass $100k car for all the money you’re burning on this piece of shit. I went for a ride in it and was very unimpressed. It had rattles coming from every direction.

Anyone here have an electric car? I've been seeing people on YouTube with Teslas that have 250-300k miles now that have done basically nothing to them aside from tires and windshield wiper blades and they are still going strong and have 85% of their original range. They are supposed to be cheap used because people are afraid of the battery going bad but maybe they are a smokin deal.

Used are up currently because of gas… teslas, rivians and Lucid are highest - even Mach e, id4s and ionic and bolts are up in used from just a year ago.

My neighbor had a Tesla for a few years. He drove over a small banana shaped / size piece of metal or hard rubber that rolled and dented the underside and totaled the car because it damaged/punctured the battery. That experience would be the end of electric cars for me but now he ordered a Rivian R2. I questioned it and he said that shouldn’t happen again since it rides higher lol

I'd say maybe. They'll get propped up by their architecture deal with VW in the short term. Now, will that architecture succeed and will they survive in the mid-term? I have my doubts, they've laid off a crap ton of engineers. I'm not sure if they really have the best and brightest left over there. Of all the remaining EV startups, they're probably the most likely to survive, Lucid probably least, followed by Telo, Alpha, and Slate.

If I had to guess, VW is going to give them some runway to get the R2 and R3 out the door. Rivian needs these models if they are to survive. Lucid's sales #'s are up, who knows how much runway the Sauds will give them before pulling out.

Yeah, the Lucid cars seem really nice, though the software apparently sucks and there's lots of minor issues owners complain about. I don't think they'll be around in 3 years.
I have 2 Teslas, and the only issues I've had are with the newest one (2020 S). The worst was the main battery died on me while driving out of state at a supercharger. It was replaced with a brand new one under warranty, but still a PITA. Apparently, some 2020 batteries were from Panasonic, and they had a shit year. 0 cost, and I got a brand new battery that brought my max displayed range to 407 miles, so that was nice.

Acquaintance had a Lucid. Left them stranded on their first long trip. Appalling CS and eternal wait time for service. Lemon lawed it after a few weeks of ownership. IIRC, one of the doors got stuck on the fender and wrecked the paint on both. Also, got locked out a few days after delivery.
Lucid 100% would be gone if the Sauds didn't own most of the company. They make pure garbage and don't have the desire to fix it.

Tesla has their own used sales market… and when carmax etc find themselves high than tesla…no one will choose the carmax one over the tesla one because of a bunch of factors.
One thing that was...is...kinda funny is that Carmax almost is completely automated on trade on estimate, the inspection is only to verify and reduce if anything is found - physically or blatantly obvious like "it wont start" -- when Tesa churned out the new Model Y in super base spec, CarMax did not have that really in their systems - and it came in as a "normal" base Y, not the new base-base Y - so there were /some/ who traded in + a few grand right off the bat... obviously this was corrected, but that indeed left them with less than 0 model y super base models that they need to offload essentially at or above MSRP...
My co worker is obsessed with tesla - has had everything but the truck and roadster... 3, Y, S and X... think he had 2 ys and 2 xs? I am surprised Tesla still sells him cars as he lemon lawed one and somehow got them to buyback another... and he keeps buying them.
Rivians are nice, they are the closest to tesla in many aspects. Traditional autos all suck for tech when put up against tesla or rivian.
We will see how the slate does... if it can get released in a meaningful way and keep their costs down, it could work. But if its a R2 or a Slate SUV package at the same cost... slate aint ganna make it..

yea teslas are still going for 20-30k used in my area, all i have for my criteria is 2019 (for easy fsd, i heard upgrading older ones for fsd is more difficult)
