I went on that boat last night - there were at least 2 people who had that outfit from that video on the boat. You basically sit on it until the boat finishes the route (you can leave early if you want), but if you play the minigames on the boat (wrestling, shooting birds with bow, mahjong), you get points that give a reward at the end (xp and some jade coins or w/e). I knocked out a couple sect dailies on it, so i guess that was cool lol

It’s a solid game - it’s an open world combat / rpg game, but it has online social and combat elements if you do choose (can keep it solo if you want). Most of the monetization is cosmetic
Some of the online shit if funny, though. If your character commits crimes they can get sent to jail, but other players can act as a lawyer and try to get the charges dropped if they have a high enough scholar skill. Other players can also show up and toss rotten eggs and vegetables at prisoners being transported to jail

Dropped six hours straight into it and would have kept going if I didn't have travel coming up.
It's definitely has jank and the 200 menus are dogshit, but pretty solid gameplay and exploration. Could have done well as a single player RPG with an entry price though obviously nothing beats milking whales instead.

I spent the last few hours backtracking oddities and exploring. strangely I opted for auto parry just for easy time but I didnt mind the easy progression. Got my monies worth by buying a skanky custom, no complaints really

I feel so bad, spent 71 hours already in this game already and that's not playing on nights when there were hockey games, so that's like 4 nights.
Game might not be perfect, but it just hits my buttons. I love open world games, and this has the best open world exploration I've seen, I barely touched the story in the 2nd zone. I just run around finding oddities, chests, and side quests.
I was very happy to see that 2nd zones has different type of activities than the first one. The oddities are different for one thing, and the bells you need to ring and use Meridian Touch to break chains to open chest is new to 2nd zone. I hope they keep doing that with future new zones. Keeps exploration fresh.
Well back to work before going home and spending another 5 hours playing tonight.

I've played about 40 hours since release and I think this game lands right in the middle of the over-hype and under-valuation that pretty much dominates online.
I enjoy the combat and it has a compelling game loop with a ton of activities and exploration. The UI and menus are an abomination and there is fair amount of jankiness and fuckery that I wouldn't normally accept; but that for a free game I can put up with.
Some of the scenery and bosses look amazing. The first chapter story I found interesting; but Kaifeng so far has bored me to tears. I'm playing with CN language because the VO for English was terrible. It is often hard to understand really what is happening, but I don't care that much and I generally get the gist of things.
I wish they made it clearer how and what you can upgrade. It is sometimes mystifying. Even now I'll be casually exploring some sub--sub-sub menu and find I can claim a bunch of resources for...something. Don't care really since I'm only playing this game for PvE and it is basically not difficult (although I'm not doing the coop shit and haven't really hunted around to find the hardest content possible). I'm upgrading all the obvious stuff when I can.
The RMT stuff makes me shake my head. I'd actually be inclined to purchase some of the cool outfits if they weren't absurdly over-priced. I don't play the RMT gatcha shit in these games because I learned my lesson from Genshin Impact. Once you start chasing that stuff they have you. I think they would drive more revenue if they added in a lower-tier cost of some outfit upgrades. The whale stuff people will buy regardless and they may as well charge 50K for a boat for suckers.
I give the first zone an 8/10 and the second a 7/10. Maybe a bit generous but somewhere in that ballpark.
Bottom line is: if you are (for example) an alcoholic who is trying to cut down on your drinking, this will give you something fairly endless and engaging to occupy your evenings instead of drinking.

Don't know if PVP wrestling counts but the PVE wrestling will give you like 5 Con per win regardless of the difficulty level of the npc. Doesn't take long to pump the stat to where you need it.

104 hours and still enjoying it.
I played some Assassin's Creed style camp clearing yesterday. Use the Invisibility and the Touch of Death Mythic Arts and cleared the camps without being seen. It was fun, but I prefer clearing them fighting since combat is so much fun.
I finally got the Treasure Hunter passive, and now the closest Chest is highlighted on the mini map. I found so MANY chest I had missed in place I had been to already. It's a testament to how good they are at hiding stuff.
Some of these side quests are just awesome. I wish the localization was better so they would be less "corny".
This is probably going to end up in my top 3 games of all time, even with all the little issues. Seeing all the content that China received in the last year is sorta exciting, knowing there's more to come. Like the map is more than double the size it is right now.
