I am hoping that they do another batch of invites either later today or by next Friday but we will see.

When I do get in, I will have 1 extra account to give someone all.

Cheers.

I am just amazed that the other 2 classes are not in game yet.
I mean with just 6 classes total and for being in closed beta.

Every other AA MMO I have ever done minus 2 of them, by near end of Alpha they had all classes in, let alone a closed beta 2 or 3 granted they might be in but Bugged or needing to be tuned or balanced.

Cause by not having the 2 final classes in when you only have 4 that means all your content outdoor and indoor, as well as dungeons has to be tuned for those 4 classes, but the 2 classes not done may throw all the content outdoor as well as indoor, dungeons out of whack.

Basically I am more or less talking about group content, dungeons or semi group and raids it delays getting all that shit properly done.

Like right now if you group to do a dungeon for certain bosses it could be x y or z to beat them, well when class 5 and class 6 gets done if you have a full group with 1-2 of the new classes then that same encounter maybe to easy or to hard.

Shrugs these are my thoughts, have never done dungeon or anything etc but this is how almost all my other MMO alphas and closed betas were.

Cheers.

Depends on how smart the developers are. Smart AI should take into consideration class makeup of a party/raid and change strategies/skills based on that.

Are any of the unrevealed classes going to be that different? They'll still be DPS, or Healer, or Tank. They'll just be a slightly different flavor.

It's not like they're going to reveal an Asheron's Call 2-style Tactician thatcompletelychanges a way content is tackled by a group (Wall, Turrets, etc).

I think it's quite useless talking about game balance in Closed Beta right now since :

- game has no release date yet.
- it's a Closed Beta therefore only a handful of people could talk about it.
- NDA.

On another subject they've just announced they'll stream PAX Prime, so I bet there'll be some announcements (business model, remaining classes, release date, NDA drop, etc) made during PAX.

Cash shop is a definite, I don't think you can get a game with housing that doesn't have it, just too much crap to sell. Hell if you watch that one video that housing plot has a ferris wheel and a giant keyboard(that actually plays and lets you record), so the possibilities are endless, especially with their theme/humor.

As long as the cash shop is all visual extra stuff I'd be okay with that model I think. There are some threads talking about it on the Wildstar forums too and with all the extras in the game it could easily support a $7.99-$9.99 sub fee along with a cash shop.

I don't really see games, especially MMOS, outside of korean games having cash shops that actually give you benefits.

XP boosters are kind of on the edge but I don't care about those. But if you can buy the best sword in the game for 8$ that's retarded. Fortunately, I think a huge majority of developers have learned that's a retarded idea.

It also depends on how a game is done. Imagine a gw2 style shop with a EQ style loot progression. If really good gear is tradeable and your cash shop allows shop currency >> in-game currency, you can be pay to win without actually selling the item itself.

I wonder when this game will actually ship? Early next year maybe?
Who knows. I think this winter is pushing it, unless they have been working their ass off. Maybe next spring, which I think would put it at about a year of beta.

For it still being a limited closed beta, I don't think they'll make it this year. But they haven't promised anything other than saying "We would like to ship this year but when it's done is when it ships"

My guess is they're going to go a very similar model to what GW2 has: $60 box, no monthly fee, regular updates to the in-game shop with its own currency. Considering GW2 recently ramped up how frequently they are doing updates, this must be a system that is working really well for them. Carbine has already indicated that they plan to have a developing story with regular updates, which is one of the major ways Arenanet has been able to encourage people to to buy items, mainly by having limited-time themed skins and minipets.

I still think Path of Exile's cash shop is the best cash shop. All effect items, except for storage. You can buy more storage, which is fine.

People write that often and might very well be right, but it's just conjecture. You could just as well argue that "GW2 is doing that and they recently had to ramp up how frequently they do updates because that system didnt bring up enough money to sustain operation with just 1 monthly release.". I'D argue for the latter but not because it isnt bringing the money, I just believe the rumors that NCsoft is sucking them dry, which might just happen to carbine too.

Carbine is touting the elder game as their main focus, which we all can agree is great. None of that content is being tested yet, at least on a large scale so I don't see this out before spring at the very least.
