Ranged tank in TOR was one of the few interesting new ideas to come out of that mess, but this game seems to be mostly melee opponents so far which would make it less interesting since you end up in melee anyway. Wish they would be a bit less fantasy-inspired and a bit more Sci-Fi tbh. The shiphand instances sound interesting in this regard.

SWTOR's "ranged tank" was so disappointing. A few ranged pulling abilities, but then all of your threat and mitigation abilities were close combat.

I dont know if it was implemented well, I never really grouped because fuck sitting on the Fleet LFG, only played my smuggler to 30 and quit, came back to get to 50 and quit again. Anyway the idea is novel and I hope a Sci-Fi game picks up on it because it would be awkward in the fantasy genre (too much melee).

The Vanguard class in SWTOR had a host of problems while tanking, but yeah, most aggro was kept with a PBAE because they didn't have a hate generator.

Yeah, shock pulse or whatever it was called was an awesome ability. I used to annihilate entire door attacking groups with that thing and the right gear and clickies. That and the grenade launcher AE. I actually loved the feel of PVP in SWTOR, just the actual fighting, everything else was garbo.

Never had issues tanking on my Vanguard as long as people knew wtf they were doing and didn't push the mob. Always would have the occasional sentinel or what ever move the mobs which made it a pain in the ass. Ultimate combo was vanguard+commando we could practically take on anything. I enjoyed my tanking BH a lot more though, looked cooler, played better, dunno why.

Some Ex-Blizzard made bad games, some made good games. Same is true for people that never worked at Blizzard. I'm not sure there is a point hidden here.

Evidently beyond the 10k testers they originally had they only invited 1k more (and gave each 2 friend invites). So until they start inviting more for the December testing, wait wait wait and wait some more.
