Only if your mom counts. Can you bang bar wenches?

Buddy has a server he runs dedicated clients on. The killing undead thing crashing the server is a known bug seems like. We finally fixed his issue. We thought it was with his save profile but it turned out something in the game folder itself was causing the issue. He had to uninstall, delete the folder (you know how steam likes to leave shit behind) then do a reinstall to finally fix it.Who were they hosting through? Survival Servers has been awful.
Pretty damn even, honestly. I'd say 35% land/35% base/30% ship (ship takes probably the first few hours to unlock though, so it's slightly skewed until then). What's the distribution of land-fighting vs base building vs ship combat in this game?

I never played Enshrouded either, should I put that on my TODO list at some point? I did like Valheim.Pretty damn even, honestly. I'd say 35% land/35% base/30% ship (ship takes probably the first few hours to unlock though, so it's slightly skewed until then).
This is already pushing past Enshrouded as my #2 all-time in the genre, and if Early Access goes well, I could easily see it taking the top spot.
What really stands out is how much of the usual survival game busywork they've cut. You're not constantly babysitting things like fuel for fires or smelters, and there's no punishing food/water system where you're dying every five minutes if you forget. Fast travel is in, but handled in a smart, limited way (very similar to Enshrouded). Overall, it feels like they pulled in a lot of what works from that game (like food buffs, comfort system, fast travel, etc.) while trimming even more of the tedious survival mechanics. The only area where I think Enshrouded still has the edge is building. Windrose's system is VERY good, but I do miss the precision of placing individual voxels that Enshrouded has, because you have a lot more fine control there.
Combat is another big highlight. It's genuinely engaging in that enemies hit hard as shit, set and item bonuses are meaningful, and you actually need to stay focused by keeping buffs up, using consumables, and reacting in the moment. It's not quite "Dark Souls" level, but it's easily the most "Souls-like" combat I've seen in this genre.
Ship combat is an absolute blast, especially in co-op. I've mostly been piloting, and juggling camera views to line up maneuvers while tracking which cannon quadrants are ready to fire makes for a really fun, active experience. It feels chaotic in a good way to constantly be calling out PORT! STARBOARD! like a fucking nerd. You also get the option to "board" ships, add the risk of a melee combat encounter in close quarters, but also get rewarded with extra loot if you succeed. However, you can just outright sink them for less risk of dying in the melee, but then you don't get any bonus loot.
On top of that, there are factions to work for and a light "trading" system, which adds more long-term structure. If the game evolves through Early Access the way Enshrouded did, this could very easily end up BIS for survival games.
It's almost in 1.0. I'd just wait until that happens and then you absolutely should play it if you're a fan of the genre. It's honestly probably THE best in the genre at the moment. I only have it at #2 because I have a TON of nostalgia for Conan Exiles, mostly which involves playing with a buddy of mine who is no longer alive. But if I'm honest, Enshrouded is actually a much better game. I'm just sick to death of the "fantasy" genre in general, which is my only real knock on that game.I never played Enshrouded either, should I put that on my TODO list at some point? I did like Valheim.
Enshrouded is currently still planned for an end of year 1.0 release so might as well wait. They're also redoing the combat atm so should be better.I never played Enshrouded either, should I put that on my TODO list at some point? I did like Valheim.
Probably why Abiotic Factor felt so refreshing. Check it out if you hadn't. Probably still on Game Pass if you've got that. It's almost in 1.0. I'll check it out after I get done with Windrose. Thanks for the suggestion.Probably why Abiotic Factor felt so refreshing. Check it out if you hadn't. Probably still on Game Pass if you've got that.
Gud game. I die a lot, thank jeebus for fast travel.

Subnautica is a goddamn masterpiece. It is very much a survival game but different because it is so story driven (and single player only). It is one of the few games where I wish I could unlearn the plot so I could do another play through. The mechanics are good survival genre fair, paired with underwater survival stuff. But my god, go in blind, the story is just fucking excellent. Usually with these games, I would recommend looking up interactive maps for resource deposits and such, but not for Subnautica. Don't play Below Zero, it is ass in comparison. Resource collection and base building is the exact same, but the story is trash, and story is the reason you play the game. I have no idea what the new one will turn out to be with all of the behind the scenes drama going on.You should absolutely play it once it hits 1.0. You're doing yourself a massive disservice if you do not.
My top is as follows
(1 and 2 can be interchanged, but honestly, at this point, I think Enshrouded is the better game)
1) Enshrouded
2) Valheim
3) Windrose
4) Dragonwilds (unfinished but i love this game so much)
5) V-Rising
I've never played Subnautica because I'm not big into horror, and deep water already freaks me out enough. I do plan on trying the second one when it releases, though.
