Tbh I didn’t even know if it was good or not. I didn’t watch One Piece as an anime show or live action.

I just automatically assume any game to movie or anime to movie live action adaptation is garbage.
That's a statistically safe assumption. But kind of like Cowboy Bebop for dubs, the One Piece live action betrays expectations in a good way. Oda had yes/no power over the series start to finish. The actors they got were good, and they stayed true to the manga. I'm actually looking forward to the next season.

So I've been rewatching Frieren in preparation for January. 10 episodes in now, and I still love it just as much as I did when it first aired. Today she showed off how much mana she has before telling the demon girl to kill herself.

Speaking of Freiren, I was thinking about what Wirbel had said in the last episode about how the elders talked about the little things that affected the village rather than the big fights. It brought to mind my favorite thing in the series so far, maybe because I'm a parent and grandparent. When we meet Starks father he's overbearing and doesn't praise him at all. It's easy to dislike him. Later on we meet a father (the king) that seems to be kinder. Stark sees the kings son training and the dad tells him he's not progressing at all. He says he praised his son and claims that's what ruined his son's progress. It's a small plot point but boy did it hit me hard.

Anyhow, I'm really looking forward to the next season.

Of all the random ass things how did you get the impression Graf Granat was a king? Graf is his title, he's a minor landed noble, basically a count. In fact considering how much German is used in Frieren, Graf probably is just the German word for count or something.

Fair enough, he was the leader and I guess I just assumed.

He is effectively "King" of that city, whatever you want to place that rank - yet that was not who he was talking about.

He was talking about the other "king" - a "noble" named Orden where he is to pose as his dead son for a short time to keep local morale going while they rebuild the army. Episode 15

Edit: I think the "kings" are the king of the center kingdoms, north and south... so yeah he is a baron or duke or whatever.

You're right my brain conflated his post with Xarpolis talking about Ep 10. I'd guess Orden's proper title in-universe might be Markgraf which is sort of parallel to Graf rather than being linearly above it. The military governor of an important border territory rather than a more conventional governor. Or maybe all of the northern lands count as border territory in which case Orden probably would have a higher rank than Granat due to ruling a more significant area.

I've now seen episodes 1-19 of Frieren for the 2nd time. They're currently doing the 1st Mage test. At least the first event from it, about capturing the bird. Still a fantastic show.

Rumors have it that Frieren S2 is only going to have 10 episodes. Although it may be possible that it's going to be split cours for season 2.
Which is pretty perfect, because it confirms the pacing is most likely going to be the same as season 1.

I think that is showing the instant that Serie becomes aware that someone broke her barrier (if I recall there is a short scene afterwards with Serie?).

There was audio of Serie actually calling Frieren out by name after the barrier was cracked.

EDIT: Specifically, you see a picture of her throne and she says "Now you've done it, Frieren. It's been a thousand years and this is how you say hello? This is why I can't quit being a mage. In the world full of magic, sometimes the world is turned upside down."

It's a full cut to Serie being like 'we aint seen each other in a thousand goddamn years and you show up breaking my shit?'

Also that single frame looks a lot more conspicuous when it's slowed down so much but if you really want to analyze it I think it's more to do with Frieren's visualization of the barrier.
