God damn. I crushed through Volume 2, and it's really good. Last night alone, it got into a huge sequence of battles and stuff. I couldn't put it down for a few hours.

Hell mode is more fun than I anticipated. The edgelord/wholesome meter is pretty much the opposite of what I was expecting.

I lol'ed at the MC's defensiveness about being a degenerate multiboxer.

That one caught a lot of people off-guard, because at the end of each volume it has non-canon "what if" side stories.

I liked the one where the MC and the elf girl basically hatefuck each other and he is forced to marry her, but then he dies of course of old age ... only for her to bring him back from the dead as a lich, so they can read books together.

Sentenced is really grimdark fantasy. The penal heroes aside being sentenced to Dark Souls life where they never get the release of death until they totally lose their humanity like Tatsu is just one aspect of how grim it is.

Humanity is being totally consumed by the Zerg like demons that corrupt everything they touch, with city after city falling and there is this desperate confluence of factions doing whatever they can to survive. Some wanting to just straight submit to the demons in exchange for survival and helping them oversee the human cattle, others want to dissect a living Goddess to see if they can recreate one to save humanity.

The characters are great and the setting is real depressing, in a good way I guess. It really communicates the hopelessness of it.

I like how it can have a bit a light hearted tone with teoritta and some of the slice of life interactions between Kivia and Xylo then stab you straight in the face with a pile of dead mutilated children.

I fucking love this show.

This week jjk frieren and sentence were all A+

I've only been watching Hell Mode, JJK and Fake weekly, been waiting for the season to end so I can binge the rest of Sentenced, Frieren and Trigun.

Hell Mode, as I said before, has been quite fun, definitely better than expected... but I do hope someone ends up calling bs on Allen and having him re-tested.

JJK has been very good. Just Peak you could say.

As for Fake? Total chaos, no real story to speak of honestly.. just stuff happening randomly.

This is a very weak season. The only new anime thats decent is Sentenced. I cant remember any other season with so many shows that have animation and story so blatantly phoned in.

Its saved by returning shows like Frieren, Hells Paradise and JJK

I can see looking at the yaoi and yuri stuff this season and not wanting to dig in any further. Japanese culture and humor are strange as fuck sometimes, and if they aren't up your alley, that's OK too.
