It just occurred to me that even before passing the first class mage exam Denken was probably connected well enough to have heard about Macht and "The Golden Land", if so then that's almost certainly what prompted him to attempt the mage exam in the first place. Which would mean that 'I want to visit a grave I havent been to in a while' was just a convenient and less conversation-ending thing to say than 'I intend to travel north and die fighting an unwinnable fight against the last sage of destruction', while still being a true statement.
We timed it just right so watching an episode daily caught us up right at the end of S2. (We watched all of S1 before).
My favourite
Frieren coming up the stairs from the onsen with a towel around her head and a popsicle and ears drooping
Then the touchy oneesan with the headpats and hugs making Fern Jelly
We are now watching this show that is just off the charts weird. Like how do the japanese do this kind of stuff without hard drugs? It is a yuri show with some of the girls being these teddy bear looking things that sometimes kill and eat girls.
That's weird enough, but then there's a whole courtroom drama thing going on that makes absolutely zero sense. The judge randomly says shabadabadoo or something haha.
