Dear friends and colleagues,

As many of you may already know, ABC Entertainment has established a new set of Inclusion Standards that we’re implementing across all of our primetime series to ensure multidimensional representation across the entire creative and production process.

These new guidelines are intended to make our content and our sets as inclusive as possible, and will serve as a further catalyst for real and sustained change. We want to take this moment to evaluate systems and habits in an effort to remove barriers to access and opportunity. It’s important for us to look around the room, see who’s not there, and then take the steps to not only bring them in, but also set them up for success.

We are deeply committed to progress and are hopeful that these standards will help guide us to a place where our shows – behind the camera and in front – are reflective of the audience that we serve. We look forward to collaborating with you all to reach that goal.

Your ABC executive is available to help you with any questions you may have.

The network on Monday announced a detailed plan starting with the 2021-22 television season that includes spending a quarter of its development budget on projects created or co-created by writers who are Black, Indigenous and People of Color. Additionally, the network is targeting all of its writers rooms to be composed of 40 percent BIPOC representation. The network says that figure will grow to 50 percent for the 2022-23 season.

Historians estimate that, even with other problems solved, the USSR would have still collapsed around year 2000 or so. Apparently foriegn Soviets did not identify with ethnic Russians and were steadily out-populating them by several orders of magnitude.

Did they define what an 'underrepresented group' is? If not then it's probably pretty easy to make the case that every TV show meets those standards. Oh that cast of 100% white males? One of them is gay. One of them is atheist. One of them is bulgarian. One of them knows how to play the ukulele. One of them is a former olympic athlete. One of them is a registered libertarian. Diversity quota met!

How do you get "LGBT representation" without asking who is gay during interviews?

"Great audition. Btw, are you a lesbian?"

its funny because the only people i know of that still watch network TV are old people, who aren't gonna give a shit about seeing young diverse people on screen. i guess its no win for network TV though, all the people who advertisers desperately want to reach are all watching youtube and twitch and tiktok and IG live now

Quibi will save the day

Guys, guys. I've been assured this is nothing and its not affecting anything. I've been assured of this on this very forum! Who cares if you're only metric for whether to hire someone is not talent but in fact the color of their skin or who they fuck; it clearly won't affect quality.

Now can we go back to marveling at how we went from the golden age of TV to even more spectacular, diverse, hits like Star Trek Discovery, Star Trek Picard, Sense 8, Batwoman and Sabrina the Teenage witch? Because its clear diversity hasn't negatively impacted things at all.
