World of Warcraft: Current Year

I didn't notice any new absences for us, but after 2-3 hours of Kromog wipes to get the kill I have to wonder. When did the bans actually hit, tues night?

I can't help but laugh when I see all these 9/10H guilds spamming for "core spots to push into Mythic!" A little late, guys...

Yeterday afternoon.

And with all these Mythic guilds looking for people. Why don't people start merging? Isn't that better? I never understood why have 20 guilds all recruiting for people when if you merged a couple guilds, you could all be happier and start raiding.

Because three raids missing core members all combined together only perfectly fields a single complete raid with two extras still missing core slots. People had enough trouble breaking down 25s into groups of 10 back in TBC, doing the reverse is always going to leave people out.

Ya, I get that. Shitty situation is shitty. The alternative is that no one raids any Mythic at all.

Back in the day I remember raiding guilds like FOH and Afterlife competing against one another for world firsts in EQ1. Success in raiding required a lot of teamwork, wiping over and over again to learn the encounter strategy, recruiting and retaining players who were good enough to execute those strategies and had the time available to play several hours per night. In WoW are the best raiding guilds now the ones who figure out how to configure Honorbuddy the best?

No.

The best raiding guilds right now are the ones that have been together for years and have people literally knocking the door down to get in. Guilds that will remove members for fucking up 0.5% of the time. Only losers are using hb for rotations. The idea that you need to do that to focus on mechanics is a testament to how bad some players are.

I'd rather have that bad player rocking 90+ percentile, and not fucking up mechanics, than being shitty DPS, and shitty at mechanics, because they are not paying attention? Effectively turning bad players, into fucking great players.

There's plenty that use it, but can do just as well without it. People get lazy. Why put in all the work when HB can do all the work for you? That line of thinking.

No way you are gonna convince him HB was a good thing.

Funny enough I use simple autoit macros in practically every other MMO because they have so little decision making or variation, just a bunch of abilities that you smash on cooldown and the order only really matters the first time through. See Rift (in-game macros), SWTOR, EQ (MQ2 or you just bind a bunch of hotbar buttons to the same key), EQ2 (in game macros), FF14 - hell, the only games I don't see the point in it is WoW and Neverwinter.

There's only a few things I could see macroing in WoW that way. Like I could have one button that does kill shot -> kill command -> arcane shot. There's very few cases where I wouldn't use that priority, like pet out of range. But that still leaves dozens of abilities unmacroed. That's nothing like SWTOR, where I have a dozen fucking abilities that may as well all be one button.

But a full on rotation bot is for people who are so jaded with the game that they have more fun editing a script than mashing the buttons themselves. Which was basically how I spent my last stint in Everquest. Also, shittons of PVP bots and gold farmers.

That bot forum is just...so satisfying.

Also finally got Mythic Kromog down last night. It's amazing how the boss dies when the dps is all alive at the end. Who would have ever thought that you can't do dps while you're dead.

Boy you sure paint a nice picture, but that was hardly the reality. Maybe the hours of free time and wiping was true, but a good core of members in top guilds exploited, used showEQ, shared accounts and used macros if not full on botted. My guild wasn't competing for world first, but we were always server first and everyone used showEQ and external macros - nothing to the point of botting, but all skill ups were automated as well as several other mundane things.

The fun is being diminished somewhat by increased wipes on farm bosses + the fact that that they haven't given me a single item yet after 6 weeks of mythics.

Getting lucky with bonus rolls and follower missions doesn't exactly give the same sort of satisfaction. I don't even know if they realize it.

FFS, they gave another hunter 2 items off the same boss.
