Do they still have those awful delves? We played last expansion, and I absolutely hated how much you had to grind them. Solo was ok, but fuck you for inviting a friend, we'll give everything 250% more health for 2 people and make it hit way harder.

They didn’t remove it because of high end players; they just play whatever is best. Blizz removed it because the class design has been avoiding that ability since its creation. It has moved more and more towards the focus being on movement and managing short CDs and buffs. Removing the requirement to self manage resource generation also aligns with their desire to streamline classes with less things for players to track and manage.

Assuming I have no relevant characters or anything on live and wanted to make a brand new character to dick around, do I just blast these timewalk old expansions to level, or is there a more direct way?

Do I need to grab a profession and start mining copper right now or is there some kind of catchup for that later?

Are you gonna be solo? If so then I think spamming quests in-between dungeon queues is probably the fastest.

They changed professions awhile back so that you level them separately for each expansion, so you can pick them up whenever, just make sure to pick up the "midnight" version once you get to the new zones.

Yea it's just me dicking around. I managed to find my way in to the shadowlands uh, time stream i guess? So you just get to blast through this entire expansion then as your leveling area?

I can't seem to get any dungeon finder stuff to work, I think because it's only doing shadowlands dungeons? Is there a way to just queue for any dungeon anywhere?

No. LFD sticks you in whatever level range you are in. So if you are 51-60 it's all SL. 61-70 is DF, 71-80 is WW, 81-90 is Mid.

Hopped on my druid, and just stuck it in starter talents for guardian since it reset everything. Rotation is still exactly the same. Get a good staff/spear/polearm and just go to town on groups of mobs. 4 or 5 buttons per rotation. Since I have wqs unlocked got half a set of 126 gear and did 2 delves to get to 81.

The prey shit took a lot more work than I was wanting to get to the point where it stopped running away and I could kill it.

The most time-efficient way to do Prey quests is to just grab the quest before you go do world quests or rare farming in that specific zone, you build up your hunt progress as you do your quests normally, then you get the prey location and go there to kill it. If you already did the quests, there is a specific prey hunt quest that pops in the zone anyway, but that's not a regular world quest and has no reward except building up your hunt progress.

Two more things: Sojourner could be completed today and the reward for all that work was one "Finery funds" token (you can pick some outfit). At this point I am convinced they think their player base are all girls or gays. The amount of furniture rewards is also insulting. I get it, it's the expansion feature but how many salad bowls do people need?
Second so far nothing and I really mean nothing was warbound. The zone rares have one fixed drop and it would have been nice to gear some alts. The WQs also seem to have a very small loot pool, I got so many doubles and triples in just two days doing all 4 zones. I get it, all the work went into furniture, but still.

Most zone rares have 2 drops specific to them, though some share appearances with loot from other rares in other zones.

Additionnally, every zone has 2 mounts that can drop off every rare randomly (and rarely), so a total of 8 mounts from Midnight rares.

I got a few good BOE items that could possibly be shared with alts but the problem is, as always, the level requirement is too high if you loot it at level 90 and want to share it with alts in the 80-83 range. By the time your alt would be high enough to use the item, they can have a better or similar item by themselves.

Most of the warbound stuff seems to be the currency you get from quests and treasures, that can be transfered to alts and used to purchase gear from quartermasters (since reputation is also warband-wide).

Didn’t the lead producer and whatever the fuck Metzen has sold his soul to be lament calling the game Warcraft? This would be the game that was literally copied from a game called Warhammer. A game that started as two fucking armies hitting each other.

World of Faggotcraft now.

It's way worse, because Blizzard tried to get the Warhammer license back in the day for the first Warcraft, but couldn't get it, so they made their "totally not Warhammer", but of course with green orcs and humans" for the half finished game.

Chris Metzen was hired back then because he knew a lot about Warhammer. Period. Yes, you read that right: Chris Metzen's call to fame, and why he is in the company in the first place, is Warhammer, and only Warhammer.

lol. I knew the first. I either forgot or didn’t know the last part. I seem to recall that now that you mention it during one of his interviews when the game was in a much better spot like Wrath or Legion.

This is gonna be a slightly long post, so buckle up, or scroll on traveler, your call.

Holy shit is that writing terrible, especially Arator’s.
Having now done Arator's story line in the expansion here's my review. It's pretty standard "the cause I have always fought for might just not be as pure as I thought" crisis story line, with some severe "Calling the old man out" issues mixed in. (To use Southern parlance). It's not crap, but it's also not the kind of stellar storytelling and epic tale many were apparently hoping for. My biggest concern is we're getting "Yet Another Pillar Male Hero Who Is Having an Identity Crisis Believing In The Concept of Good being Good" (i.e. Anduin 2.0) which is tired. And more of "Every strong leader is going to be a woman, deal with it."

The overarching feel I am getting from the whole story for this expac seems to be the very tired trope of "We have to deconstruct what you consider good to make some assertion that everything is a perspective based shade of gray" nonsense unfortunately. The main villain can be summed up pretty easily with "Tell me the devs have a foot fetish and desperately want a goth dommy mommy without actually saying the devs have a foot fetish and desperately want a goth dommy mommy." If you want extra proof of this and use Waze you can turn on Zal'atath as your navigation voice, and REALLY get slapped in the face with it.

Housing is definitely trying to "expand the reach" of the game demographic. But also it has no relevance to game play. I swear at this point my wife has fully changed her main spec to "interior decorator", here's her house.....
1772987744876.png

But at the same time, she's enjoying the game. And when it comes down to it a lot of the bitching I hear about housing can be summed up with "SHHHHHH, let people enjoy what they enjoy, you do you."

With that said, yes, they're pushing more and more monetization, but they're functionally owned by MS now, what exactly do you expect? :

I've got my main to 90, overall feel is underwhelming. And unlike World Within this time I decided to take the time and do all the "read the quest texts" and "stay a while and listen" options. I am really getting the feel this "epic worldsoul saga" will end up being "We had one good idea, but corporate overlords insisted on a fully paid expansion on a timetable so we decided to stretch it out for three cycles." I am currently at the "There's no way I will have the tolerance for this level of trite gameplay story telling to level all my alts" phase in the leveling cycle.

Fury warrior feels OK, but I know the DPS is pretty much in the shitcan for the spec at the moment. I guess when Delve/Mythic/Raiding season opens in a week and a half I'll get a much better feel one way or the other.

Most important progression to end game ready point : Fishing is still pretty stable and what it is. Maxxed fishing in less than 8 hours of "have it up while I sit on zoom meetings for work" time. Nice thing is that the "interact with object" button (I think it's F by default) completely works so you no longer have to target your bobber, so it's even more mindless.

Side Note : If you actually like pet battles, peace be with you friend since the Nintendo patent and subsequent suits have made them essentially remove it moving forward. You now capture pets by just finding a critter in the wild flagged as a pet and clicking on it.

I'm pretty sure WoW is existing solely at this point because it's the one game that for whatever reason the market will allow to be :
  1. Pay for game
  2. Pay for game again in full at every expansion
  3. Pay a monthly subscription to play
  4. Pay for cash items in a shop to accessorize
And Microsoft/Activision will keep that golden goose alive as long as it can. But with that said, for old farts like me it's that comfortable game we're cozy in and makes a nice timesink/distraction.

They are doing Turalyon dirty this xpac. All about shitting on him while pumping up Alleria. Heaven forbid the two of them just be in a healthy relationship, and Arator can get over his issues like an adult.

We can't have a functional, useful, heroic pivotal character be stable, competent, MALE, and Straight on top of that? Damn.. Have you not read the lore guide for modern WoW?

There hasn't been any lore in WOW since Legion.
It's like how we tell people "If you like Game of Thrones.. when it gets to the scene showing her sailing across the sea with her dragons, just STOP WATCHING. That's all there is in the show."

Or "There was only one season of Westworld."
