He's also the only creator that was given a week of in-person access to Blizzard's WoW HQ and sit-down face time with Ion Hazzikostas-- and it was at Preach's request, not PR organized by Blizzard. He went on his own dime and was granted the access.

If you TL;DW he interprets this as a reset to capture the broader audience. Viewing the core of retail wow as a problem of annoying complexity even though parts of it are awesome. He says he realized this when his teenage son tried retail and within a few hours of just the tutorial was totally lost. When Preach tried to help him even he didn't know what to do without access to the rest of the game that he was familiar with. He compared this to the games that his kids do play and all of them are very simple on the face of them. In an easy to play hard to master kind of way.
As Classic WoW was much simpler and easier to play it captured a lot of people. He sees games with horizontal progression as being excellent for this purpose. Comparing Guild Wars or something where your chase items and everything are for looking cool not for power per se. But expansions offer totally different builds, procs, and effects for classes and a lot of depth added that way.
He is not under NDA and did not participate in this so it is just speculation on his part. But very well informed and educated speculation. He also adds that Blizzard is inviting a lot of content creators to Blizzcon this year, far more than usual. So something is definitely up.

A guild wars style 5 man focused game that wasn’t faggotry, trannies, and being afraid of calling it Warcraft might get my attention just to play an alternative timeline. But they would have to seriously update graphics too.

We can definitely be disappointed but there is an appreciation for "cozy" gameplay lately. With housing being one addition towards this design. Any move away from End Game is the Only Game is a good step in the right direction for Blizzard at this point.

I expect it will be on the retail engine, updated graphics etc, with a fair bit of retail stuff shoe-horned into classic, no dark portal = wow2. We'll see. No interest in retail and classic was a ton of fun through BC, everything after pointless. I also wonder if they'll just cap lvl to 60 and go guild wars style expansions like Preach is predicting. Could be interesting...

Blizzard is actually incapable of anything you described here
If I had to wager they will "reboot" wow from classic on but fail and just repeat the same mistakes, introduce the same dogshit dailies and vertical progression and seasonal model but in a more azeroth centered setting.

People who want to find something to complain about will. And this board is FULL of people willing to do just that for 20+ pages of posts at a time.
I expect the game to be above average and hold my attention for months to come. More than enough reason to buy and sub.

Funny how they are calling in Wow 2, but it is nothing more than a slightly updated original Wow. Add in box price + sub, and I wonder why people even care. It might be something if it was entirely FTP, but that won't happen.
