The fun thing about the MTX is I'll never see it.
What do you mean you won't see it? The new playable race is locked behind MTX and they're selling things like vanity pets ect.

Given what happened to all of the other game studios under the Microsoft/XBox umbrella, it also shows just how much faith Microsoft has in Blizzard to deliver revenue/profits.On a higher level this Blizzcon signals that the integration to Microsoft is more or less complete. Meaning that they have scaled up their production pipelines with the expanded resources of Microsoft. While Activision prevented this with their relatively limited resources. This is why you have Starcraft Dominion, Diablo V, Hearthstone, WoW, Overwatch, and even Heroes of the Storm all getting big projects and development.
I think that's probably one of the most interesting take-aways from this. If Blizzard can make even half of the announced dates (Diablo 5 in 2029? a whole new Starcraft game by 2030?), that shows that Microsoft/Xbox are pretty much all-in on them as a studio - and that there's some very interesting financials going on behind the scenes.Given what happened to all of the other game studios under the Microsoft/XBox umbrella, it also shows just how much faith Microsoft has in Blizzard to deliver revenue/profits.

That's for having your account security thing you fucking retard.
I was really wondering about this as well, since they made a moderately big deal about him coming back on board when it happened....Chris Metzen MIA at BlizzCon.
I think they need to build up to trying to redeem WoDI'll be honest, I was hoping for WoD.

Microsoft makes decisions at a much higher strategic level than Activision was able to.Would explain why some stuff like Starcraft Dominion felt premature. Prodded by Microsoft "It's in pipeline, announce it". Old Blizzard would have waited another year or two.
Activision was notorious for tightening balance sheets in their final 5-6 years. I remember there was a lot of controversy surrounding Kotick regarding the balance sheets. Kotick used to mention to investors fairly often about how he is "cracking down" on Blizzard after Legion.

That MS died a LONG time ago. THIS MS paid 75 billion for a dying company. They can MTX their eyeballs out for the next 178 years and still not recoup their original outlay.Microsoft makes decisions at a much higher strategic level than Activision was able to.
When Microsoft released the Xbox in 2001 they did so fully knowing that Sony and the PS2 would dominate the market. It was just to get their foot in the door to the console space. But the Xbox 360 in 2005 was a huge success. Just as one example.
