World of Warcraft: Forever

I used to kill grind on my classic warriors wearing greens leveling up instead of doing quests. Warrior never felt bad to me. I've also leveled multiple mages 20 years ago which I rather liked and is why I picked it again in Forever.
When I was level 10 on my mage I ran out of mana attempting to kill a level 11 mob. Literally just OOMed attempting a +1 yellow and died to it. I crafted a wand after that and the mana pool got much larger soon after, but it was noteworthy. (no quests had a wand reward) This is very unlike genuine classic were mages are quite strong at low levels.
Mage in Forever feels like they doubled the mana cost on spells and enlarged the mana pool (after level 10), then you have to drink multiple times to get FM at some levels. It's not merely a matter of 'efficiency' because in dungeons you're forced to sit and drink while your groupmates are already fighting the next pack. Mages end up doing poor overall damage because of it. But even when mana isn't an issue the damage feels weak and our hunter beats me easily on single target, although AoEs are still strong.
I'm partly venting but also warning people who may want to choose mage as a class. Hunter (my fav class) feels even more OP than ever which is probably why I see so many of them.

made a guild with a bunch of old TBC/WOTLK days buddies. been nice to catch back up with everyone. we're the same assholes just with children and expendable income now.
honestly once raids hit and they get some good numbers from that i'm cool with them keeping balance tight among the classes. as long as classes FEEL and PLAY distinctly that's all i care about. i like playing retail for the frantic pace and constant shit happening but class identity has long since been dead. closest they've had in years was aug evokers being super unique. i've been playing since 2005 so i've seen the whole gambit of how the game has played over the years. imo the TBC/WOTLK/Cataclysm era was the best since you still had the full talent trees. i hate vanilla with a burning passion purely because class balance is absolutely dogshit but i know i'm in the minority for that. forever is exactly what i wanted classic to be.

So yeah... Now at 18th level on my warrior (duo leveling with
Mrs. Haus
on her pally). And as mentioned, Warrior really starts to come into it's own the in the late teens. I can empathize via proxy about mana, on her Pally she's dealing with needing mana breaks more than I think she thought she would be. Debating making a guild for her and I just to stop the ginvites... Names under consideration.

I've never really done alliance, so, figure this is as good a time as any to finally level in those zones. Is olympus just like shoot a message and youre in or is it like a faggy application sweat process?
