It’s not funny, it’s just bad and boring and awkward. It’s unpleasant and not in the good way like a torture porn movie. It’s like watching a really bad stand up routine where even the hecklers are bored.
Yeah, Movie 43 is fucking gross and awkward, and left me questioning why I was spending time that way. It isn't even "bad in a good way".
So many people saying this is terrible is just making me want to see it.
You're wasting your time.
Hold on now, you're wrong on a couple of counts. First off, amanda was not one of the best characters. She was one of the characters. The spinoff didn't ruin her, she was always a cunt. It just didn't play as well when she was the lead. Second, The Raven was pretty good. I found it a few years ago and loved every episode. All 22 of them. It was from back when they made proper seasons. The show failed because they never marketed it. I was a huge highlander fan back then. I followed a couple of fan groups on usenet and I heard about the possible amanda spinoff but never heard they had actually made the show until a few years ago. The rumors are that they canceled it (and didn't advertise it) because amanda was a cunt IRL too and no one wanted to work with her.
The Raven... was good?
You might have a point here with "Amanda was always a cunt". Maybe it was less egregious when she had Duncan Macleod to play off of, came and went from the show, and wasn't the center of attention.
I resent that Methos didn't get the spinoff. The show's best character, and with him being 10x the age of the Macleod boys, a show about him could have gotten into some REALLY ancient history. Only a couple of episodes in the main series were able to go back further than 500 years, like Pharoah's Daughter having some flashbacks to the Roman era. A Methos show could have had lots of stuff like that. More Four Horsemen content would have also been great. They were rampaging across the globe for, what, like 1500 years?
Maybe I'll rewatch The Raven again someday and see if I appreciate it more now. The one time I watched it, the unlikeable lead just killed it for me. Nick the Cop might have been an alright love interest for her, except that the actors absolutely despised each other in real life and Amanda's actress kinda sandbagged the guy / had visible disdain for him onscreen.
And yeah, nobody knew The Raven existed. Even as someone who watched Highlander every Monday night for years, I had no idea that they continued it with a spinoff a year later. It wasn't until the show was almost over that I happened to see it on TV Guide, showing at 2 AM. Literally, 2 AM. I was like "huh, what's that?" but couldn't really stay up to watch it. I think I blasted through the show back in like 2012 or something and remember not liking much of any of it until the last few episodes. It was a "cop show" for most of the season, which I was never a fan of when Highlander: The Series did it. The last five or so episodes felt like legit Highlander episodes and then it ended. So maybe it was turning a corner but we'll never know.
Also, why'd Amanda's actress lop off her hair before the show started? The show was "The Raven" because of her long black hair, and before they started filming she went and cut it short and dyed it blonde. So she shows up on set with this Blonde Lesbian hair and they had to just kinda start filming regardless because what other choice did they have?
That damn haircut undercut the entire show from the get-go...
