People have different ideas of what "cheating" is. Sex with someone who's not your wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/husband is universally seen as cheating.
Some people however also see... sexting another person, pic sharing, and camming as cheating as well. Even watching porn some see as cheating, so does the question encompass ALL forms of "cheating" or just the universal?

I had the same outlook for a while but it's really not very realistic long term I think. I think you can cheat, physically only, and still only want to be with one person. Monogamy isn't very natural. I still don't really cheat, or aim to, but to pretend like it'd never happen again is a little short sighted. 'Emotional' cheating is when things are over

When I asked to define cheating I was thinking about a different scenario.

Lets say you are married. You, for one reason or another, being away at a hotel or at work, you have sex with someone else. It is a spurr of the moment thing, a once in a lifetime oportunity to sex that someone else, whatever...

Now, after that, you go home and say to your wife: "This happend. Because this happend, it is clear that our love is over, my fault, whatever, I want a divorce". No lies, no crying, no begging for forgivness...

Is that cheating ?

No, my wife doesn't think that. But, I know a lot of people that do.

I've cheated during a marriage and been cheated on. Shit happens, people are in bad relationships and bad at relationships. Sex with your spouse gets old. The temptation can get overwhelming if you're an attractive individual who finds themselves presented with opportunities. I cheated after being faced with very stark evidence that she was cheating first. I don't really place any higher meaning on it, its something very common not the catastrophic event it feels like. Of course we are split up now, but there's people who have gotten past it.

We place sex on such a pedestal when its of little greater importance than taking a shit in many ways. Its just a biological imperative.
