So whats the Elune server, is that a temp season server and does it like merge into Area 52 or something at some point?

It was supposed to be a seasonal server I think but I'm pretty sure it's been stuck in whatever it is for awhile now.

Instead of picking your spells/abilities and talents(?) you get them randomly - and later can grind to re-roll them individually. I wouldn't suggest it until you've played the main server.

Here.

A52 is their main classless server meaning you can pick and choose every skill/talent/enchant every level but since its been running for 9 years and has tons and tons of hyper mudflation it can be super overwhelming. There are a few dozen "archetypes" ie new classes you can choose and level as which is the best way to play it especially starting out.

Elune is the seasonal server which the gimmick is random fucking skills, just pure RNG, some minor control/customization but you can end up with shadowbolt one level then thunder clap the next.

Both of the live servers are on TBC as of now, and 3.3.5 client

PTR Servers:
Grizzly Hills (Wrath Alpha): This is testing wotlk content, standard A52 stuff custom classes etc, this is just for testing northrend.
Conquest of Azeroth (Alpha): This is just testing a completely different set of custom classes, this is mostly A52 but a different class list, a new dev joined the team and basically did a bunch of custom classes so this is his test server.
Bronzebeard (Warcraft Reborn Alpha): This is a classic (Not vanilla) + server focused on the original 9 WoW classes and focused on open world exploration. this will progress vanilla > tbc > wotlk with custom content/open world stuff but as far as the whole classless/build your own set/archetype thing this is the least Ascension like server, it's focus is on the original 9 classes.

Overall I agree with the MadSeason guy although I guess everyone speaks around the edges about it. The primary thing WOW or its derivatives need to do is allow horizontal growth. Resetting you constantly is the one thing that just sucks ass. Time Locked Progression every now and again is fun but whatever in the long run.

People who got an invite to Bronzebeard can now invite others. I therefore have one send, me a dick pic for an invite link.

They have been doing tons and tons of invite code giveaways hundreds a day and then letting ppl who got invited, invite someone as well.

Seems like the rumors of this launching before COA are true, they originally said December but I can see them launching this into at least public beta within the next month and going live by Halloween

Since they will wipe BB before going live they probably shouldn't burn people out in the short term.

they are moving systems heavily towards release version, they cut tradeskill ups down to 1x instead of 2x, cut exp down to 1.0x instead of 1.2x rate, split random dungeon finder xp up between all bosses in a dungeon to encourage people to run the full thing instead of just race to first boss, etc

not a huge fan of the reduced exp going to suck when it launches.

also server been crashing constantly since i got inside from mowing the lawn and I can't play /weep

think they are trying to soak up all the classic+ bubbas from epochs failed launch or something.

they seem pretty set on the slower, harder version of bronzebeard. They've being doing a series of youtubes on it

Yeah I love it. Too bad they are nowhere near live release though. That video is really helpful. I love the parallel advancement enchants give you. I'll be playing this full time when its live.

Has Conquest of Azeroth / Rexxar actually been released yet? The idea of custom classes sounds fantastic to me. It's something genuinely new, not just "same same, but slightly different."

They've had custom classes online for like 8 years, it's called A52, the main classless ascension server. it has something like 24 different official custom classes, they call them archetypes. it also lets you customize those custom classes or just create whatever class you want. Players have uploaded tens of thousands of archetypes you are free to pick or mix and match to your liking.

Rexxar is just a new, different set of 21 custom classes without the ability to customize them

Call me old fashioned. While I think A52 is cool its super overwhelming. Having the enhancement system on top of familiar classes is quite nice to me. Additionally I like COA because the classes are fresh and you don't have to stray into the complexity of enchantments.
