Meh, unless you're poor you should always keep all the consoles you buy. Even if they're just collecting dust in the attic. I really wish I still had my old Turbografx, Saturn, Atari 2600, NES, and SuperNES. Would be pretty cool to have an entire wall of consoles representing my gaming life.
Yeah same. I am completely done with Xbox from a services and future perspective, but I am still going to hold on to my old Xbox consoles because I bought a ton of games on Xbox and the backwards compatibility has been the best on offer these past two gens.
That said there is no doubt how it feels like a console with no future, sort of the way my Dreamcast felt when it was officially over with Sega's first party support. I still got my Dreamcast and loved how great it once was but when that point happened, when I just kept reading bad news about what was happening with Sega, I knew it was a platform I wouldn't be getting much more out of. Funny enough that's right around when Xbox showed up, and they seemed to take their place, but now it feels like Xbox consoles are going the way of the Dreamcast.

with my PS5 Pro being my only home console I will really be buying new games for anymore, and being over subscriptions as well. At $80 their PS+ Essential just isn't worth it for me. Some of the monthly games can seem like good offerings but looking at the games I have installed, hardly anything is from PS+ anymore, and the games I download from there feel more like curiosities I quickly move on from than anything. I tried out the Platinum originally, didn't get enough out of it, then they raised their prices, I went with Essential, and I just don't really play anything that seems to need it, online multiplayer just isn't my thing anymore. To top it off I have come to hate these subscriptions, how they keep getting more expensive, charging me for some basic features that should be free, and any game that requires one is not a game I will want to buy or support.
No doubt I'm getting a new gaming PC whenever this feels antiquated, fuck next gen home consoles, if they are going to become more like PC's I am just going to go full PC where I don't need to put up with their locked down ecosystem bullshit.
