Many don't, and change their names and put a lot of effort into avoiding all of it, but there are people out there that stalk them through court records and the like and follow them cross-state and even to other countries. They target family members as well if they can't get to them or just to get the info from them. It's a situation similar to the crazy Hollywood stalkers.

To do what exactly? To beg for moneys?

It's been a while since I read up on it, but from what I remember it was pretty much what you'd expect. Begging for money for health reasons, investments, inventions, and probably a few innovative ways to purge the unclean. People just latch on to it being "free money" and think that you'd part with it easier or something. There were also people who weren't crazy and were just straight up criminals trying to con or coerce the money from them.

The actual amount ends up being ~40% after lump sum reduction + tax chunk. That said you're still looking at $640M or so assuming a single winner. Luckily, I live in an anonymous claiming state but I have severe doubts about my immediate family being able to keep the secret. Merr likely won't check this thread but I KNOW YOU'D BE A GOD DAMN SQUEALER.

The good answer is set up a trust account, get a financial consultant and make good investments while living off the return and interests. You don't need a mega-mansion and you need the property taxes on it even less. I'd stick to less conspicuous buys for things I'd actually use rather than F U I'M RICH SUK MY DIK things. Might actually take more of an interest in health matters cause enjoying it a couple decades longer seems better than being coked out of my mind and power of attorney seized as they lock me up like Stan Lee and that shit situation.

Modest 7-8% yearly returns from investments would yield 40-50 mill per year in returns. That rigth there is PLENTY to live on. Especially us schleps that dont know how to live lavish lifestyles.....YET.

Buy land on various mountains, build houses on each. Invite friends to stay and ride and MTB all day down cool shit(bike parks). Build a slope style and pump track compound where ever my favorite place in the world ends up being. Hire Velosolutions to build pump tracks in various parts of Houston(fuck this city but the biking community is badass) Try my hand at rally car racing. Do a bunch of cool shit with the family.

Oh yeah if you just put all of it away in trusts none of your descendants will ever be poor. Even if you have a pile of grandkids the trust will keep growing to outpace their needs for dozens of generations. They'd all live off a 5-10mill/yr annuity their entire lives.

Was just talking about this with my Wife :)

1) Buy a house in Bertschesgaaden in the alps. Time would be split between here and number 2 when we got too hot in number 3.

2) Buy two houses in Colorado - A couple huge log cabins up in the side of the mountains. Side by side. One for my mom, one house for my wife and I. Preferably close to Estes Park. (What the hell am I talking about, no perferably needed. I'll just do it, and they will like it)

3) Buy the island used in the movie Cast Away, tunnel fiber connectivity in, build a house on top of the hill where Tom Hanks was going to end it all, hire a staff to make my wife and I breakfast, snacks, Lunch, Snacks, and Dinner (Then snacks) with an endless supply of Double IPA's. (This would be our permanent home) And when everything is complete from a construction stand point, I would fly Colin Kaepernick out to the house, tell him to throw the football off the cliff, push Kaepernick off it, while crying out "WILSON!!!!!!!!!" Then I would stand him up right next to an American flag with the Star Spangled Banner playing 24/7 inside a cave in memorandum of Wilson.

Buy a condo in austin downtown. This is just so I can keep people away from me. Hideout there and have shit delivered to me for a month or two while heat diea down.

Order all the skydiving gear I want and my custom travel van. Grow a beard and look homeless and drive from dropzone to dropzone skydiving my days away.

I'd want an Asian bang maid for sure. She can join me.

Also travel around when mood strikes me.

I wouldn't take the one lump sum, I've never dealt with a lot of money and I simply don't trust myself. Figured if I get 30 annual payments I have 29 chances to do something right with the cash. Averages to about 45-50 million per year after taxes according to my google-fu.

Since I fucked up and didn't go to college the next best thing for me I guess is to hook up my old high school with some new classes. I would say about half my stash would probably go away on just doing nice shit cause I'm such a simple bumkin and can't imagine what the fuck I would do with just 10 million/year. Of course I would be taking lavish vacations and hire drop dead escorts to go with me
this seems about the right way to do it. i think they pay you over 20 years? this will probably end up a 2 billion dollar jackpot. so if you cant handle a hundred million a year for 20 years you are clearly some kind of fucktard. my convertible plan wouldnt even dent that first year sum , even if i had all of them engineered to perform like modern cars and housed them in a Jay Leno style warehouse with a crew of mechanics, i would still have a shitload of cash left to buy mansions and shit anywhere in the world in that same year. of course taxes will hurt you more than anything else and you should hire the best in order to keep your ass out of jail.

I'd sue like that one lottery owner did and won, to be allowed to claim it as a blind trust and not an individual, so hopefully i retain some privacy?? probably get one bugatti, maintenance on those are $$, get some other exotics, real estate with some fences (lol), invest a majority of it.

Mystery lottery winner gets her prize, keeps her privacy

I'm curious, how do you guys think you would act the moment you found out you won? I'm not watching the balls drop at 8pm PST on the dot, so I usually will check it the next morning, or late that night. Have the Washington Lottery app on my phone that scans the QR code to check the numbers. Makes it super easy.

I think I'd probably scan it multiple times, and just be in shock for a while. I'd scream at the wife to start deleting her Facebook account and all pictures of the kids. And then start figuring out how to disappear. I have 3 kids, and so their safety would be of concern to me, and I'd be worried about stalkers for sure. I'm not a paranoid type typically, but money makes people do weird things.
