Actually James Gunn put the soundtrack together, as far as the music from the 60's and 70's goes. He said they were all precisely the songs that he wanted and that luckily none of them were very expensive to license.

That said, Purple Rain is still the better soundtrack. The soundtrack and the album were not one and the same, which people often forget.

There are many other songs in these movies and in other movies (aliens battle song f.e.) but like i said i chose the main themes.

Man, when first saw the question. I had no idea. so many good themes.
But yeah, there you go, this is it for sure. My #1 is Superman.
