The macro - I want to try it, is it a pain in the ass? I don't want to take shots of inanimate objects, I want to do something similar to what you've done here. Bugs are unbelievably interesting. That being said, do you just prop up a chair, set up your tripod and wait? I've never done it but its definitely on my list.

For the macro shots, I sat down on the ground next to some flowers/bushes with a cheap 70-200mm non-macro lens and manually focused on the bugs when they landed near me (it's impossible to autofocus on the right spot when the bugs are moving around and the DOF is so shallow).

I really like the two Toronto pictures.

Damn. I'll give this a shot and post results. Although its winter right now and I'm probably not going to sit around in the cold.

Boat shot was with a plain-jane SLR and scanned forever ago from a printed photograph, so the quality is terrible =/

Mt. Fuji

Taken in the yard one day with a crappy camera I keep in the truck toolbox a couple of years ago. He stayed a few days making the cats really nervous.

Bring the noise down a bit and the yellows and oranges up. Love this shot.

Keeping motive to shoot is hard as fuck man.. I had a really hard time doing a "365" series of photos for a year. I ended up just giving up shortly into the 300s, with a lot of gaps in between
