Watched Bahroo do the last mission yesterday on max difficulty. His roster from about 4 hours into the game were 1 tank (blaster rifle I think, but might have been a pistol too), 1 gunslinger and 1 medic with pistols and droid. Oneshot phase 1 and oneshot phase 2 without boss getting to do a single turn. Called it a spoiler free bossfight. Tank reduces defense, droid giving everyone +1 or 2ap and just shot after shot of pistol with the added shots from the gunslinger that gives a shot with 3? AP as well as the AE shot.

Granted he also abused the stim mechanic to give tons of bonds earlier in the game, but the damage output from pistols is absurd. I started as a sniper and don't use any characters with guns, haven't abused the stim thing at all. Feel like I need to restart.

I slept on pistol until I saw how useful it could be on the Mando. The low AP cost and good damage output are nice

The difference in base weapon damage is very small, compared to enemy hp and how much you can increase it, so the main difference is range. The game has way too many melee enemies, and they can move way too fucking far, especially if the coil ones get that upgrade.

i finished the game today, last mission was fun, droid boss was more difficult than last boss honestly for my setup (pretty much burned the last boss without taking much dmg except for the retaliations). I vehemently despise the new sw movies and series, but i still love sw universe and i did find the story compelling...it was a good game, hopefully they going to make a sequel with a bit more depth on the research, and and larger squad (4 really is kinda limiting especially with unique talents characters)

Increase squad size to 5-6, let you run 2 missions per cycle, 1 mission per operator, done. Sometimes both missions can be linked, different objectives, same goal. Give you more info on mission objective and enemies so you can better set up each squad. Most of this can be easily modded, some already has.

Really hope we get a Zcom Long War...

All good suggestions. I think a “simultaneous operation” would be cool. Like you have an operation that requires two things to be done and requires two squads, but the actions of either squad effects the other

Like one team has to bring down a shield or cause a distraction, which makes it easier for the other squad

I wouldn’t consider two simultaneous squads being any different than current.

Just need to up the scope and scale ala long war, 6-8 squad members is the sweet spot for these games IMO, at least if they’re class based, and then certain big story missions increase to 10-12.

Well, that highlights a different issue. The scale compared to Xcom. This game just throws you into these "arena" battles (and you can't even pick your starting cover, ugh), whereas in Xcom you're assaulting a large facility or combat that spans multiple city blocks, etc. Roaming pods, fog of war all that. There's the occasional bigger map, like the one I'm doing this second, with the bombardment pushing you forward (straight stolen from Gears Tactics, lol), but for the most part every fight in Zcom is:

Jesus that's one of his best roles ever in the movie still pretty hilarious. The screw that thing is like you posted that gif, and I can hear his voice in my head from that scene. It's good stuff.

Unfortunately the second one was really bad.
