I'm not sure why you're so upset, bro. It's looking more and more likely that UbiSoft will be taken over by Vivendi anyways, barring some major cash infusion from Canadian investors.
Yeah I saw that today

Probably the best thing they can ever do - unfortunately I doubt they will be able to fire Yves Guillemot but one can hope.

With that said, 6% isn't shit, and EA bought over 13% in 2004 and they thought EA was itching for a hostile take over as well. I highly doubt anything will come out of it. Ubi invested too much in Quebec which directly impacts their economy - the Canadian government will make sure private investors hold off any hostile takeovers for fear those plans would be shut down.

I love Canada. But they need all the help they can get.

use the same damn animations and art assets from the world including the builder assets
If it works and produces a good game I'd call that a smart use of resources. Why waste time and budget remaking shit you already have when you could instead use it to make new stuff. The budget is the budget, if that is spent on remaking animations and art assets then it isn't spent on something else.

True. And I understand that, and I won't rehash it here. Other than to say that's fine if that is done, just don't try to pitch a full retail launch at $59 when it should have been a DLC Pack for FC4 and adjust the price point accordingly to the amount of dev time put in on the game itself, which wasn't much.

I just fear a trend of seeing DLC being sold as full price games if this type of low cost low time dev model catches on.

A valid criticism and gripe. No doubt. But none of that changes the fact that the game is still enjoyable to a healthy number of people. Some DLC is fucking AWFUL and it costs 25 bucks. Is that fair? Should shit DLC go for premium DLC prices?

Its one of those slippery slope arguments that are only settled by how good of an experience gamers are having. Maybe Primal should of been 30 $ but so far consumers have liked it and dont regret spending the 60$.

Watching my Sabertooth jump on a yak and bring it down by the neck like a real lioness in the wild was so awesome. The yak even kicked for a bit as the oxygen left it's brain. These animations are great.

Edit:

Lol @ caveman Urki = Hurk

Brilliant.

I honestly don't know enough to comment whether it was priced appropriately. Who knows, maybe it was intended to be a non full priced budget title but when they saw how good it was they decided it was worth full price?

Asset reuse is generally a decision you make early on for a budget title, and maybe this really is only a budget title being sold at full price. But sometimes things don't pan out the way you intend for good or ill, I just think the game should be judged by its merits and not production decisions is all.

Here is where we will disagree. The latter is bullshit. The sooner you end up reusing assets and reskinning and selling games at full price (While taking away mods) is the day the bar sinks even fucking lower than it has already been lowered.

Christ, at this point? The industry needs to fucking crash and burn anyway. Let it happen. Its the only way these fucks will learn their lesson.

What lesson is that? That minimal effort, reused assets and yearly releases can lead to revenue that vastly exceeds in magnitude the public censure such practices invite?

And i know ubi is having trouble, but it's not like you can't make a killing doing what they're doing.

Are you fucking serious right now? Is revenue all you care about or do you want to see and play some awesome fucking games? It goes without saying that revenue comes to the people and companies that deserve it. Want revenue, talk to rockstar or remedy. Who make plenty of revenue and put our cherry ass releases. You want stagnant shit in a box? Continue to follow Doctor jackass

I'm all about making money. Do it the right fucking way. And be fucking honest about it.

I agree with almost everything UT says, and not to is to put on some fucking blinders.

The sooner Ubi burns to the fucking ground, the better.

Blizzard and Creative Assembly have gone the way of EA/Ubi. They're releasing half-assed bullshit. The recent spate of Total War games since CA was bought about by Sega have been buggy/unfinished as fuck. Heroes of the Storm? Hearthstone? WoD? Diablo 3? Blizzard is sucking Activisions cock right about now.

Blizzard games and the Total War series used to be something to look forward to. Not anymore. Bad companies going out of business is healthy. It puts incompetent people out of a job, and lets studios that actually give a fuck hire better talent.

Rofl, I definitely didn't say I cared about revenue at all. I said minimal effort yields great revenue for a lot of developers, thus lesson-learning isn't terribly likely. Call of Duty and Madden spring to mind.

I'll go ahead and mention that we're friends on PSN (Balzmir). Look at my playlog and determine for yourself if I play 'stagnant shit in a box'. You'll doubtless despise some of the niche shit in there, but you won't find: any Far Cry, any Ass Creed, any Madden, and CoD since MW3 or anything else that you'd object to on the same grounds that you object to Primal.

We need to play more games.

How I wish that last part was true. Look at the MMORPG genre. Those fucks continue to shift companies because all that matters is shipped title on a resume.

it's fucking awful.

Can you imagine some of the games we could play if it wasn't for the stagnation?

I agree on everything else you said. Sucks. The industry will crash before we see any changes. And then? A dead market because no one else will enter it. Common sense falls flat on these people.

I am not sure what you are talking about, Diablo 3 and Rome 2 are best in series games for their respective franchises. And there is certainly nothing wrong with Hearthstone either.

Did you just say that D3 was better than D2:LoD? Everything you say from now on is worthless.
