So glad I did the tutorial, never would have figured out most of that stuff. Just started this morning!

Also. I built a beastly gaming pc awhile ago so maybe that plays into it but I don't think the graphics are very good

I read somewhere on Redeit that the visuals are extremely sensitive to TV settings, which I'm inclined to believe since it's a muddy mess on my tv and I DON'T have a beastly pc pumping out visuals that make it look bad. It's probaby the worst-looking non-remaster I own on PS4.

Finally came in yesterday. When you're driving around, I'll typically hear some dialogue getting in the car or exiting, or scripted story dialogue, but otherwise nothing. I can see the dudes animated as if they're talking to each other yet there's nothing to hear or read. Is this a bug that anyone else experienced? I'm not too awfully mad, because Prompto is a faggot I'd be okay with perma-muting, but occasionally the others' banter is amusing.

Not a bug, it's supposed to be an immersion thing but there are some conversations and events that happen in the car or at a camp though. Things like morning training, photo ops, etc. There's also a few places in the first area where you can hear random cries for help and give wounded people a potion for quest exp.

Those of you with unappealing graphics, are you PS4/Xbox or PS4 Pro?

I'm playing on PS4 Pro and the game looks really good. Some parts better than others of course, but overall one of the prettiest games I've played. I haven't played Tomb Raider yet so I can't compare to that, but it's better than Witcher 3, which was pretty good in it's own right.

Helpful hint for people starting out, after you get the Chocobo quest, go there immediately, because the arms vendor outside the hub sells the next level of weapon upgrades. I was running around with the lower level stuff forever because all the vendors I saw sold the same war swords, avengers, cocytus, etc. After you grab those weapons and level up more, your next upgade will be in Lestallum.

on PS4, no issues, game looks great. have shadows and god rays etc... i'm also not very very picky. They game has parts that could look better. I remember when i was younger asking myself while playing games 'I can't wait for games to look like their intro trailers', well, now they do, so i'm not going to complain :)

Lestallum weapons are a bit more expensive as well. Like Wiz Choco Post weapons are only hundreds, Lestallum's are thousands. Also as a heads up do all of the open world stuff you want in Chapter 3 cause 4-5 is a bit more story focused.

Chapter 4 is extremely short, I've been in ch. 5 doing map stuff for 5+ hours.

Lvl 30, almost 19 hours in.

Level 39, Chapter 6. Was easier just to finish 5, certainly if you're going to go roaming for 5+ hours.

Reference spoiler - Start of Chapter 6
The Omen trailer parts about Noctis solo attacking the Niffs and Pryna (the dog) getting injured is actually a dream Noct has.

Is there any way to upgrade a chocobo aside from leveling it to max? Was disappointed that level 6 or so seemed to cap its speed, at least according to the descriptions presented as you level it up.

More insane EXP modifier tricks coming out, this time late game leveling. 8 Rare Coins in a single spell = 96x EXP boost and finishing Wiz Chocobo Post quests unlocks a food for +50% exp (1,100 gil). So people are unloading all their magic on the 38 Bandersnatch near Hammerhead and then quick traveling to Altissa for the night (3.0x EXP for 30,000 gil). So triple a 500k+ experience pool and someone went from Level 52 to 87.

How to get 1,500,000 EXP (barely spoilers) - Final Fantasy XV Message Board for PlayStation 4 - GameFAQs

I just beat the game. No spoilers in this post.

Game is AMAZING imo. I was sad to finish it, honestly. I wanted it to keep going. 10/10 easily, in fact I can see myself playing this again just to make sure I didn't miss anything. Yeah, there are quirks with the camera and a few other things, but they don't detract from the bigger picture, and everything else was executed so well, these things don't sour the experience. If you're on the fence, don't be. Just buy it.

The second half is much more linear as we all know. Also, afaik, THERE IS NO NEW GAME PLUS. Someone said there was earlier, and it was apparently a misunderstanding when the news came out - and apparently a large one because the strategy guide ALSO says theres one. They have hinted at maybe a DLC that will enable it, but I dunno. Also when the game tells you that the "open world will no longer be available" THEY MEAN IT. So make sure you're good to go as you cant go back until post-game.

Now, I don't think there are any major spoilers here, but do read at your own risk, I'll try to keep it as vague as possible.

Anyway, game is extremely emotional as you get closer to the end, and it was completely unexpected from a FF game. I was quite torn and "feeling the pain" of Noctis and his friends. It was quite dark, as we knew it would be. The very very last scene after all the credits were done confused me, but I won't say what it was. All the cliche things like "the power of friendship!" and "the light" and stuff is there, but not in the way you expect it. It's there very powerful.

I was truly on the edge of my seat in the final two chapters, and it was quite an emotional ride. The storytelling, I mean the underlying story, was pretty intense. The ending was a little short, but it tied up some ends, but opened a huge one that left be scratching my head.
