I played this and Titanfall 2 right after each other, and I kinda wish DOOM had less of the upgrade grinding / exploring and TF2 had more of it. That being said I ultimately liked TF2 single player a little bit more, there wasn't really any point I wasn't feeling it, whereas the first 3-4 levels of this felt super slow and kinda boring honestly. It takes too long to find more weapons / options and again, the time spent hunting around for upgrades is a bit too much, especially when they add to the variety of the combat in a lot of cases (gun addons and runes particularly, skill? upgrades somewhat)

I vehemently apologize for not liking a straight up no effort shooter that brings people back to an updated 1992 game play scenario because this game went through 2 stop starts, was in development hell for 7 years, and was viral marketed to try and make a strength out of an over budgeted shit show to recoup tens of millions in sunken development cost.
The game is bland - it most definitely wasn't worth full price, and I am currently debating if it is even worth 20 bucks at this point as I try to fight to stay awake while playing it. Also, ID Software hasn't been relevant since they were smart enough to pass Wolfenstien development to someone worth a shit in 2001.

I get why they did it. To viral market it as such and watching some more than gullible sheep buy into it is hilarious to the point of Sean Murray absurdity. Good on Bethesda for (Not) getting their cash back but attempting anyway with a hack launch of a popular IP with shit multiplayer? It's a business after all.
