In my experience as playing Symm. Putting up the Shield Generator has always been more useful than the teleporter especially when you've been held on your turn from grabbing the first point. Am I viewing it wrong?

Depends on a lot. On 2 point maps I'd ALWAYS want a TP over a shield gen on point A. Then I'd ALWAYS want a gen on point B. The only time I really like a shield gen is when you have a solo healer who sucks and you have a Torb to stack armor with so everyone can survive a lot of shit. And if you're on attack as Symm... get the fuck off. Easy as that. Though god bless an Ana ulted left clicking Symm laser beaming an entire squad.

I don't know what it is but I just don't find the Pro league's that interesting to watch. I'd rather watch Seagull stream in all honestly if I'm going to watch an Overwatch stream.

I haven't watched pro matches in awhile, but I found it's just a string of ult battles.

Wonder what a no-ults match would look like.

Also the fact OW keeps all players on equal footing means less excitement when the "underdog" team pulls a win. Like in CS:GO when lower-Eco team wins a round or in MOBA when a gold deficient team turns it around..

There are ults. It is pretty exciting to see a team bank ults to try and roll a push and see them get completely stuffed by a team with only 1-2 ults at their disposal.

Ultimates are taken from MOBAs.

Totally different than having major stat/gold differences imo.
Ults are just high impact abilities, yes it's cool to watch utilization, but not the same as overarching strategy.

MOBAs are just a more cerebral game for spectators than FPS games. It's easier to follow and theorycraft along as the game unfolds. Items/Lanes/Objectives/Team Fights all have unique elements and present disadvantages/advantages.

Maybe I'm biased, idk.. I just know I play a ton more OW than MOBA right now but I watch a lot more MOBA than OW.

MOBA ultimates are cooldown based where OW ultimates come online in a different fashion so just because they're called "ultimate abilities" and are important I think the similarities pretty much stop there. I can't say I've ever watched League but I know in DOTA and Heroes you almost always take (intentional) team fights with your ultimate at your disposal. That isn't necessarily true for OW so when a team is clearly doing dry pushes to try and build up their ult eco and they invest it all and lose it all I consider that a pretty exciting moment. I wish the screen let you knew what happened more easily since you really, really need to pay attention to see what fuck ups occurred.

Although I think I may be arguing a point I don't really believe in. I actually do enjoy watching Overwatch but it doesn't come close to how much I enjoy watching Starcraft. I consider RTS the ultimate spectator esport (yes better than MOBA) and my wife can actually sit down and watch Starcraft with me but refuses to watch Overwatch. Overwatch is far from a great spectator experience right now.

Why do people value playing their favorite hero over something that is useful given the enemy team comp? Isn't the point of a competitive game to win? Isn't that kind of the point of all games? Obviously the game is made to provide entertainment and fun, but most people don't like losing nor do they have more fun when they lose. I'm so confused.

It could be their favorite hero is also their best hero. I think forcing meta is very much a problem. I'd rather a god-tier Mei just go ahead and play Mei on a suboptimal map than force her to play like Tracer on KotH just because Tracer is considered OP on KotH.

Going against the meta grain is one thing, but not to the point where the entire team completely disregards team composition. Five dps doesn't work. No support doesn't work. Most of the time having no tanks won't work. See the pattern? I'm not looking for tournament style meta choices, just some basic hero choices to make a somewhat well-rounded team. This is like...next level shit for people in low plat apparently.

So easy to say team comp is the reason you lose when it's likely a lot of other factors too.
What are you picking in these situations? Are you part of the problem or are you going a Tank/Support?

I'm picking the heroes I think we need. I'm constantly tanking and healing when others aren't willing. Doing what I wish others would be more willing to do.

They're probably terrible with the heroes they don't pick. They're also probably ignoring chat because if you ever pick a non meta hero you'll get constant requests to change. You could be getting 5 golds as Mei or Junkrat and winning every round but they'll always be some guy telling you to switch to Solider.

I don't GAF what people pick as long as its 222, if its not, fuck off with your Hanzo or Mei. I had 2 memorable matches this weekend: First one I was doing something else so when the screen comes up I instalock zen because he's usually fine everywhere. This was eichenwalde defense. I come back 30 seconds later and we have: Rein, Winston, Sym, Bastion, Genji. Yeah. And yet we held A somehow. wut? and it wasn't a matchmaking eff up, we barely got A ourselves on attack with a much better comp. Who knows.

Other one I was playing Ana on KOTH, we have a super mouthy (text chat) Pharah complaining about not getting heals. Dude I can't magically find you when you're off doing your thing. Finally on match point in round 4 or 5 I say "cool you want heals, you can play a healer this round" and take Pharah after he switches off of him. Of course he doesn't switch and we lose. Not sure what I could have done there to win that game I guess some times you just are gonna lose in those situations.

So when you want 2/2/2, what does this mean exactly? Where do Widow/Hanzo/Sombra/Mei/Symm/Torb/Bastion fit into your 2/2/2?

I play Mei a lot and tbh I basically do what "wat" said... I ignore chat because always someone going to play group-maker and put their 2 cents in before match even begins.

I do switch often, my 1 tank is D'va and my 1 healer is Ana. I won't play any others for those roles.

I won quite a few games with very strange comps this weekend. Solo heal Zenyatta with 3 tanks and 2 dps, somehow worked. And a 4 dps 2 healer comp won as well. This is around 2750 atm.

I don't nitpick group comp, I just ask that people play smart. As long as we group up and play our best then that typically is the best for getting wins.

When someone constantly berates chat and keeps wanting people to change, it just lowers morale and that person is clearly not focused on the game. They probably looking at the team comp more than what's happening in front of them.
