Do you mean Cocoichiban? カレーハウスCoCo壱番屋 It's not bad. The other main chain is GoGo curry. GoGo curry has a 2500 yen giant curry challenge too if you're in the mood for that kind of thing.

The best curry is the one you make yourself though!

Edit: The Japanese says it's 1.5kg of rice, one roast cutlet, one chicken cutlet, four weiners, one hard boilted egg, 2 tempura shrimp, then there's the shredded cabbage and the actual curry ladled onto everything.

Yeah it's cocoichiban. It's the best fast food I've had so far. I bought a bunch to take back home in the boxes.

I had this shit when I visited my brother in Okinawa. The fact they call this "curry" is a travesty. It's like powdered packets added to water to make a watery "curry" gravy. Go visit Thailand or India and shop around for curry and get back to me Japan bros.

Thai Massaman curry is the king of foods. Indian curry is a close second. Japanese curry, of curries, is easily the worst. That being said, you can't compare the three, they are totally different, and your bad curry experience (especially in Okinawa, which we have established, is hardly Japan) was probably an outlier. Good Japanese curry is perfectly delicious.

I literally went to the one in your link. "CoCo" is a chain of curry restaurants in Japan and they have a couple locations in Okinawa.

It's just watery curry gravy. They literally sell the packets of dry powdered ingredients that you add to boiling water.

Sure, there may be some interesting curry houses but as a whole the Japanese variation of curry is nowhere near as refined and complex as Indian or Thai style.

I agree. I don't understand your point. Are you just trying to bash on Japanese curry because someone here said they enjoy it?

Na.. it was the mentality of my brother and friends really. They were raving about this place like the coming of Jesus or something and it was basically the only "curry" anyone had ever tasted in their lives. It was literally white rice on a plate with a fried chicken cutlet with powdered curry gravy water slathered on top. That's pretty bottom tier, even for us fast food connoisseurs!

Went to a low quality KFC, I was warned before hand that it was a shit location, but went anyway cause' fried chicken. I was expecting shitty service and that did not bother me much, but what did piss me off was the menu.

The menu only listed 4 combos, $5 boxes, large buckets and sides. so everything came with a drink except the large buckets and sides.

This angers me cause I want more food than one combo provides, but less food than an entire bucket. I had to ask the price of every single thing I may have wanted to add to my order. pot pies, popcorn chicken, tenders, single pieces of chicken, single zingers, etc. They didn't even list 3 and 4 piece combos, had to ask for the price on all of them.

Why dafuq cant they just list everything they sell.. like just about every other restaurant I have ever been to.

Also the Zinger was bland and the sauce sucked, if I ordered again it would be with no lettuce, and drenched in BBQ sauce and/or hot sauce.

Every time I have tried the Zinger sandwich, it has been too bready and dry. They have a Zinger Twister here, which is my usual go-to. The pic doesn't translate well. It is heat pressed and makes the tortilla nice and toasted.

Shake Shack was okay, I think I fucked myself on my burger choice though.

I picked the Link Burger because it had Pecan Lodge sausage on it (From a very popular BBQ joint down here), the sausage was really good but it was so flavorful I couldn't even taste the burger. The fries however were amazing, especially with that cheese sauce.

I didn't get to try a shake because I was drinking.

7/10 Would rather go to Twisted Root.

This reminds me of my friends from Buffalo/Rochester ranting and raving about their "amazing" local delicacy... The Garbage Plate. The first time I had one was also the last time.

They got the name of that shit right at least.

I was born in Rochester(but moved at a very young age). I'll have to ask my mom if she knows about this garbage plate business.

I've been trying some of the sides/desserts that the big pizza chains offer lately. The other day I had the new Dominos twists:

dominos-bread-twists.jpg

I had the cinnamon variety, and they were delightful! Super warm and kind of crunchy on the outside, but really soft and chewy on the inside. They had plenty of cinnamon coating, and there were even some nice pools of the coating in the container that I was able to sop up. Highly recommend. I want to try the other two varieties.

*Edit* I should add that my local Dominos is staffed like a Chick-fil-a, so your mileage may vary if you have a bunch of dullards behind the counter.
