I had a fender mexi strat - which apparently are now considered decent? They are all like $600 and I know I paid maybe $250 for mine brand new back then. Anyway, it was the standard red/white fender colors and I swapped out all the hardware for black hardware and a black pick guard then I eventually put some special bridge pickup in. People thought it was some hot shit boutique guitar and I honestly wish I still had it. It kind of looked like the guitar that dude in Night Ranger plays.

My brother lifted up my case really fast and it wasn't latched (my fault). Les Paul hit the cement floor face first. Thankfully only a knob broke.

He would be walking out with a black eye or two. Your fault, lol, dont touch my shit!

My dad had a mexi strat too - I think he paid around $300. Really nice playing guitar, I thought.

mkopec mkopec I left it on the floor of the basement unlatched. Kind of my fault.

I have small hands and those strat necks are like half a baseball. I always just assumed playing lead was not in the cards for me until I played an Ibanez with a wizard neck.

I deal with this too. I have small hands and I need contoured necks.

Not my first, but the guitar I play most often is a MiM Telecaster. Had it for 15 years and I've replaced the tuners and the pickups eventually. I think total I have about $500-$550 into it. I think they are $600 now. Paid considerably less 15 years ago.

I've joined a band where we're just writing a death metal studio album to start (we have the means to a professional recording). It's exciting to be doing SOMETHING with music.

Also covering Eucharist for halloween, not that anyone here has heard of them.

There are like 6 or 7 dudes at the Mexican Fender factory that they just never told they were making any less quality instruments than the American ones. The QA is all over the place but MiM turns out some really top tier stuff if you have a weekend to sit down and play a ton of them to find the gems

I love the gothenburg melodeath stuff. You need to cover At the Gates one year.
Unfortunately another band did a slaughter of the soul set and he doesnt allow repeats yet (been going for like 8 years). They did a terrible job too, a lot of the bands are pretty bad. The Amon amarth cover set last year was offensive. 5 songs and only new songs.

I think I wanted to do naglfar next year which is seriously underrated

Replaced my 3-way switch with a 4-way in my MIM Telecaster to match my Amercican Telecaster. Not much left but the neck and the body. So far I've put on a new bridge, new tuners, fret job/replacement, the switch, pots, and pickups. That's been over the course of 15 years. Oh and the Fender decal on the headstock is original lol.

I need a new looper pedal. Don't need a whole looper station as some of them I've seen. Nothing much fancy, but probably longer than 50 second loop I've seen on some of them. Loop and over dub.

Ditto seems to be the popular choice and I saw the Boss series. Any other ideas?

Overall I agree. There are other better niche boutique pedals but Boss pedals are very high quality overall. Except their distortion/overdrive pedals. They sound like ass.

30 years of playing and I never played with a distortion pedal. Normally I play really clean with only a compressor pedal. But I lost my looper pedal in my multiple moves lately. Which means I'll buy one and find it the next day. So maybe I'll buy the cheapest one so mine can show up the next day. Hmmm thinking....

I definitely go boutique on OD pedals. I think a lot of people liked the SD-1 but that was before all the custom pedals started showing up

That Keeley mod is solid. I had one of those but ditched it when I stopped playing as much metal.

Just grabbed the Harmonix one, stereo looper 720. Have absolutely loved my boss loopers up until now. RC-30 and RC-300 are the best that you can buy in my opinion but my RC-30 has a loose mono(L) connection that makes is sound like actual shit until I rip it apart and re-solder a connection so I grabbed an RC-1 to sate me until then and it's kind of dogshit. It still sounds amazing but interface is where it really falls short. If you're going to just mess around with looping at home it's a great pedal but live, the issues with the foot taps needed to stop a loop and then delete so you can create a new one are pretty glaring and cause some awkward shit to happen. Harmonix has a record stomp and a delete one so for single channel loop, beyond all of its other awesome functionality, it's far and away a better choice than an RC-1. You're not going to be able to do anything crazy like the RC-30 but it sounds like it would work for your needs.

Harmonix also seems to have jumped on the bandwagon of making completely bulletproof pedals just like Boss is known for and why everybody loves them and the 720 feels incredibly solid.

The most disgusting pedal I used was the boss HM-2, it was just ultra thick sludge sound made famous by early 90s swedish death metal. I sold that thing for like $150 though so it was alright.

I have a boss dd-5 or 7 that sounds pretty good for a delay
