The reason Prot Warriors couldn't hold threat is because once they got full armor / shield etc, they were rage starved. Master of Defense helps alieviate that along with other rage reducing talents for abilities. This looks like the meta Prot Warrior build going into Beta. I don't think...

Shield Slam, while being a capstone talent, isn't what will make Prot Warriors viable. There are several talents along the way in the tree that will do that. Shield Spec Defiance Vangaurd Improved Shield Wall Bastion

Dungeon spam was a symptom of under-developed quest content for the 40-50 level range. If they actually made enough quest content to get through those levels, then dungeon spam wouldn't have existed.
