The rapier later is pure rape when upgraded. Stun locking mobs and bosses is incredibly easy.

I thought the first area was a cake walk if you're patient. I one-shot the first boss, died once on the second. After the first 'stage' of the game it gets much rougher. The big difference to me is that there are less silly falling deaths in Bloodborne vs. Souls series.

Any ideas how many hours this has in it before it gets easy? Sim games I tend to play the hell out of trying to figure it all out then get kinda meh about playing more.

I would say higher. I like the pieces they have with Stuckey, CJ Miles, Watson (when healthy) and even Lavoy Allen has shown he can play a little, along with the core from last year (minus Lance obviously). Plus much, much lower expectations, they can play with nothing to lose.
