Heh I think all gov at this point. Ive gotten pretty good with it though and built some really useful stuff. It's definitely a money pit though and takes some serious time investment on behalf of the people who administer and develop it.

Best RL friends are orders of magnitude more likely to bail on you then any other type of RL friend.

    World of Warcraft: Classic

If there's one thing I learned when it comes to WoW, RL friends will always bail on you. Hence why I am both horde and on an RP server. It's actually a pretty tight knit community though horde side and very close to my actual classic experience so I can't complain.

    Routers & Other Networking Stuff

I still prefer wired access points with seperate SSIDs. I have a 5ghz and a 2.4 ghz access point upstairs and a 5ghz AP downstairs. All my "portable" devices go on the 2.4 and all stationary devices (tv's, xbox's, etc.) connect to their closest 5ghz AP. Even if I were to mesh, I'd still wire...

Yeah I guess if the formula is previous + current you wouldn't want to put in the +1. I was assuming he had already tried without incrementing though. I'd try setting the first block to 1 as well.

I've been eyeballing GA Tech's online MSCS. It's crazy cheap (my company will cover all of it) and having GA Tech on the resume would look pretty nice. I also want to keep playing classic WoW though... so maybe after Naxx.

I work for the government. Buying stuff to solve all the problems right after you bought a similar thing that solved all the problems last year is all the rage. Except I'm a contractor and my input means fuck all. So now I just make sure that 15 different overlapping products stay running...

I'd never accept a counter offer expecting my working conditions to change. Salary was literally my only complaint so it made sense for me to accept it. I'll definitely leave if I have to pay cut for any reason though (like my current company not winning their rebid in May).

Good point. Make sure you have something official in writing before you commit to staying. I've definitely seen dudes get promised promotions and raises to stay that either never materialize or take months to years.

Most of my interviews have been huge misrepresentations of actual work performed. Usually its a couple of senior dudes looking to confirm their bias's on tech/work ethic and a distracted manager. This job was mostly cultural fit interview, with most details being off the table due to...

I hear this all the time but I've never once seen this in reality. Maybe in other lines of work, but not IT. I've definitely seen people get treated like shit after they try to jump ship and stay, but they are usually terrible employees anyway. I've had my ass kissed more than ever for accepting...

I've only ever once accepted a counter offer and it was my current job. I do have a strong personal connection and the work is some of the best I've ever done and for a mission I'm highly supportive of. My main gripe was that I was underpaid and as you all know, the best way to get a raise is to...

Did you read the post directly above mine? Dude said they were going to sell it right away. I just mentioned that I did not use a broker nor was my loan "sold" (insofar as I understand it). The main point I was making was to shop loans at credit unions as well.

Lol you're a funny guy. At what point did anyone ever say, imply, or give the vaguest impression that they gave a shit about any of it? Was that a finance lawyer flex? Cause you can toss that into the "who gives a shit," bucket too.

I don't know what MERS is.... If you are trying to illustrate some naivety on my part about what "selling" loans means, then you got me! What I mean though is that, unlike friends who receive a letter informing them about their new lender and servicer (often different), I never received such...

    Investing General Discussion

I've never gone through a broker. I've financed all 3 of the homes I've owned through a credit union and they've never sold the loan. I can't say whether the interest rates were any better/worse, but they always seemed in line with the market at the time.

Teams will replace Skype at some point. I think it's fine, but I guess I haven't used Slack to compare it too. I don't really get all hot about chat clients anyway. If I can read the text and maybe send an occasional file I'm fine with it.

The fitbit seems pretty accurate for when my hr is below like 130. Above that, it seems to just go blank and not register it. I've also noticed that for some reason playing guitar will make it think my hr is 15-20 bpm higher than it is. I'm guessing something to do with my left hand/finger...

Is your blood pressure low? 95 is pretty high resting. Looking at my fitbit over the past month or so I'm between 58-62 resting most days and I'm not in particularly stellar shape. No that's the thing, they use TFS and it automates the deployment to app servers. If the hardware dies, I just hand them a new app server that runs IIS and the .net framework and that's it. Containerizing these apps won't make this process faster, less complicated or more efficient, it's the...

I'm a container hipster in that I was using them way before they were popular (Solaris 10). I know many situations for which they are perfect for and a back office .Net web app doesn't really fit that bill. We do have things for which containerization would be awesome ironically, but none of...

yeah I figured out the floating thing as I ran across that problem. If it's floating, it will screw up the intonation on all the strings when it's pushed in. As it stands now, it keeps the tuning perfectly on all strings, it just does not shift from D to E, but rather from D to Eb.

I picked up an EVH wolfgang special (made in Mexico) for $450. It's in pretty much perfect shape and at first I really liked it, but now I've kinda cooled off on it and wish I would have bought something else. I'm sure I could resell it for more than what I paid though. The one thing that...

Gov contractors usually hire the same way. Apply online, recruiters pass resumes to hiring manager and HR isn't involved until they sign paperwork. It's way too tough to hire people just based on paper alone so most of the time we wind up calling almost everyone who applies.

I would go with the desk clamping mounts unless you have a stationary desk against a wall and know that it will be that way for quite some time. I'd go crazy having 3 different monitor types though. I could maybe get behind having a big one on the wall behind me with two matching on the desk...

I mean maybe now. In the past I went into it with great optimism that it would be what my friends describe and it's always been the same. I'm more than happy just not using weed though, so no real issue.
