    Having an existential crisis

I'm a hardcore atheist yet still wonder why I'm bothering to do what I do on a daily basis. It usually goes something like this in the middle of working a 15 hour day, "Why am I bothering with this stupid job? Why don't I just pack up, head to Costa Rica, and surf?" Barring that why don't I go...

I'm going to guess that your version of dressed up and mine are way different. So you could do monk straps with jeans, chinos & suits. You can could also get some driving moccasins that are super comfy and wear them with jeans or chinos.

    Gravy's Cooking Thread

I'm a little surprised with all the hate regarding condiments and steak. Heston Blumenthal who knows a thing or two about food seems to have no problem with them. Also, all of the normal steak condiments contain umami which makes meat meatier.

    Weird interview/job offer experiences?

I had to do a group interview for my current job, and that was pretty intense. There were 5 of us vying for an unknown number of slots for a fairly high paying job. Basically they bring in a business case and assign to you whatever they think you'll be terrible at. For example if you are a...

    Weird interview/job offer experiences?

Haha awesome! I did quite a bit of interviewing while doing my MBA so I had a few weird ones. I was interviewing with a large power company, and the woman who interviewed me would litteraly ask a question and then write down the answer while a recent grad from another MBA program just stared...

    Singles / Dating Websites

Well there is always OK Cupid. I've had good luck there, but it's a numbers game. I travel frequently and work way to much so I pretty much use it to make sure that I have a hookup wherever I am or someone to go out with when I'm home on the weekends. I don't want to be wasting my weekends...

    Men's Fashion

I'd try one of the Hong Kong traveling tailors. There are some very reputable ones that will make you a bespoke suit for $2k. The only downside is that it's a bit of a process. The upside is that you get a high quality suit for less. Gordon Yao & WW Chan seem to be a favorites of style forum...

Depending on what your issue is with Brooks Brothers shirts Charles Tyrwhitt might fit you better. I've basically moved away from Brooks Brothers to CT shirts because CT shirts are much more tailored, and I don't have to spend $170 to get a shirt without a pocket. The other upsides include being...

    Hiking: Patagonia or Alaska

I've pretty much decided on Alaska for this summer and Kilimanjaro (thinking Peak Planet for the guide) with a friend who is already sold on it in 2014 or 2015. I've always wanted to do AK and while Patagonia would be epic, but it's going to be expensive for folks who don't have the luxury of...

    Men's Fashion

French cuffs are perfectly acceptable any time you are wearing a suit. I usually end up wearing silk knots as I travel constantly, and I don't want to worry about leaving expensive cuff links in a hotel room. The other nice thing about silk knots is that you can get them to match a tie or pocket...

    Hiking: Patagonia or Alaska

This plan has not been fleshed out at all. For Alaska I'm thinking the Kesugi Ridge hike. Zion is definitely on the list, and I was thinking of taking a long weekend to fly out and hike it for 3 days this summer. Obviously that idea is still half baked as well.

    Hiking: Patagonia or Alaska

So I'm planning a little hiking trip. The relevant factors will be: 1. How easy it is to get a group of people to the area (I'll probably invite 100 folks on Facebook and 6 will come) 2. The pure awesomeness of the hiking experience Everything else is pretty much a non-factor. I'm also...

    What do you do?

I'd only want one on there every few years. I think the expectation is that you stay about 2 years at a company (might be different in tech). Carry-on luggage?

You lose a good chunk of storage on those weird 4 wheel suitcases. They also seem to be harder to get into the overhead compartments, but that could be a function of mainly women using that type of suitcase. At any rate don't buy one because you lose space and they probably break more often.

    Carry-on luggage?

Tumi Alpha Internationalis a very nice carry-on. I'm on a plane at least 2x a week, and it hasn't let me down.Briggs & Rileyhas a better warranty but I don't like the way the handles are attached which causes you to lose volume in the actual case. Both of these carry-ons are pretty pricey so...

Long story short, I'm working for a massive consulting firm, and I really don't like having bosses which is what it is is. New 3% rewards checking accounts available, open to all US citizens

I'd be very concerned about the quality of the credit portfolio at those banks. They make money on net interest margin and if you are offering ~3% you have to be putting out some substandard loans. While you are FDIC insured that doesn't mean that you get your money immediately.

    Chicago + New York

Let me start by saying that if you arent looking to go to super high end restaurants then i really think that Brooklyn is where its at. Brooklyn Fare is probably the best restaurant in NYC at any price point, but it's really hard to get a seat at the chefs table. It is very expensive though...
