Complete opposite. Main villains are evil, magic-destroying, religious commies. There's also minor villains in one book initialed BC and HC (Bill and Hillary Clinton) brought down by a sexually transmitted disease due to infidelity and another book where Richard massacres a bunch of pacifists...

Biggest problem I had with Shogun 2, Empire, and Napoleon was unit and faction variety. Everything felt too similar. Will be happy to return to legions vs elephants vs chariots vs phalanxes vs horse archers.

YA sells crazy well. Of course the audience growth isn't really from young adults (12-18 year olds) so much as 25-44 year old women who like to read about teenagers. Be interesting to see how Abercrombie plays towards that crowd.
