Planescape Torment Kickstarter: A spiritual sequel to be set in Monte Cook's Numenera

Agreed. I stopped playing to play Horizon, but I'll be getting back to this soon. The writing is fantastic so far and I absolutely love the Torment world.

    Horizon: Zero Dawn

The game reminds me of Prey a lot.. Native American + Tech.. Prey was a great FPS, and I'm loving this one too..

    Horizon: Zero Dawn

I'm level 18, and just finished the 1st Cauldron quest line.. I just never did it earlier for whatever reason. I feel like I'm finding new quests and events everywhere. Very happy with the whole experience so far.

I've played through The Proving so far.. Crazy good. I'm completely engaged in every facet of the game so far. Damn near late for work today because of it.

Yeah.. I'm in the same boat.. I want to wait until I finish Witcher 3.. but damn the reviews from this game are making it difficult.

    Witcher 3

I have it on both PC and PS4 and play it on PS4 more.. I like playing on my TV vs my laptop.. I suppose I could just get a Steam Link and Controller and play it that way too.. but I haven't bothered with that yet.

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

Considering how difficult it is to do in EQ, I'm amazed we ever got it done at all. In many ways it's amazing to me that EQ even runs at all today. The coders that have kept it running all these years in spite of its shortfalls are pretty damned amazing IMO.

EQ Next: #1 Next gen MMO

Initially the idea sounded pretty cool.. but beyond that initial 30 minute tech demo.. the questions started pouring in from other designers in the company, and that's basically when the team went dark internally. There was a solid year+ when nobody outside of that team heard anything at all...

I'm over 100 hours into the game and still loving it. Talk about getting your money's worth. Can't wait until they make W4.

John Smedley hired by Amazon to produce MMOs

To me, Hero's Song was an interesting idea, but very niche. In the end it wasn't that great of a game, but Smed refunded everyone's money, so really it's hard to complain. It really (hopefully) showed him that wasn't a good direction for a game.

Yes. At least a few small areas were built before it was scrapped in favor of the more cartoony look.

Actually, it's more accurate to say the Creative Director saw how big Minecraft was blowing up.. They took the ENTIRE GODDAMN DESIGN TEAM to MineCon in Vegas, and came back with the "idea" to make a Minecraft style destructible world in an MMO.

Longer than anyone could have foreseen? EQ is STILL going.. I'd agree THAT game has gone on longer than people could have imagined, and I worked on it for 8 years. WoW is still going because it's a good game, not because of Raid Finder. It doesn't matter of it's not vanilla WoW, or whatever...

EQ Next: #1 Next gen MMO

Admittedly, I never cared for the gameplay direction they were going for with EQN, but I thought the world Rosie and artists were creating was amazing. I really think the destructible world aspect could have been dropped and most people wouldn't have cared. There would be some grumbling from...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

I wonder how WoW would have done without the ! over npc's heads? A little more forced exploration and discovery might have made the lore more important to people and lessened the race to 60, but then again, it might have just made the game feel tedious.. Hard to say without trying it.. It's hard...

Star Citizen Online - The search for more money

I can't believe so many people are ponying up large amounts of money for a 3d model viewer (hangar) and a weak-assed combat arena.

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

The soul was there. The content, lore, characters, everything was there. It was just lost in the race to 60. WoW has a LOT of soul that most people gloss over.

John Smedley hired by Amazon to produce MMOs

I disagree. Smed has had some mis-steps, but overall he's made a hell of a lot more money for his bosses than he's lost. I hope he succeeds in a big way, if for no other reason than I love games, and Smed doing well in the future means there are good games coming out of Amazon.

More on-topic though.. I like what I'm seeing coming out of the Pantheon camp lately. Time will tell what kind of game it ends up being, but visually I like the world being created.

Except of course, that Story Bricks simply didn't work. It was a great idea that they could never actually make functional. They presented a great concept, and were trying desperately to get SOE to buy the company based upon a concept. Until they could demonstrate it actually working though...

When Scott took the reigns of EQ2 before he went to Trion, he completely took over. A majority of the changes were under his watch, so whether they were his ideas or he listened to his team doesn't really matter. He had the stones to make the call to make the changes. It's also hugely important...

I got the feeling that Ponytail really didn't like the fact that Scott was heralded as someone who really saved EQ2. He wanted to put his own legacy stamp on it. Again though, he felt like he knew better than everyone else on literally every topic of discussion. Ego like that just kills games...
