One of the things I'm happiest about is that the entire world, and its resources- the example being given copper- are relevant. Its very refreshing to see zones and resources not level-locked.

I'm betting it'll be in if not at launch, then by the next continental expansion. On the EQNext map there's Antonica but on the periphery you can see other continents, too. With as ambitious as the game already is, they've probably prioritized that as low. Fortunately with horizontal...

As a raider this sounds great, especially if its open world. Still need great raid mechanics though.

    The Elder Scrolls Online

That dungeon today looked beautiful but boring. Another totally linear script-fest. Hard to judge combat before playing it, but the animations look terrible. And whats up with the pointless NPC's with a single dialogue option? I would hire the environment artists to work on my game, not sure...

Am I the only one who doesn't mind the Kerran? The head needs some tweaking, sure, but do we not remember how awful the "Lion's-head stuck on a human body" was? /shrug

The only thing that they showed that I am skeptical about is the combat. I don't mind actiony combat as long as its "easy to learn, difficult to master" with a lot of depth. Unfortunately what they showed did not indicate the later. On the plus side, the combat clearly was in an unfinished state.

That's definitely possible, but we were talking about having certain restrictions on the class system? I missed it in the presentation if Georgeson said it was completely without restriction (which is possible, idk). I'm not sure I like the idea of certain opposing classes being mashed...

I'm good with that; or if you can switch from Paladin to Shadow Knight, have it involve a massive betrayal question and faction rep changes- not just visiting your local 'class re-trainer'

I enjoyed what I saw, caveat being if they can execute on all their grand ideas successfully. I don't mind the stylized art direction at all even though I tend to prefer a more realistic style. The artistry looks good, pixar-esque, and was impressed by the facial expressions.

I have always disliked Bioware games, all of them, and swtor was the worst MMO I have ever played. Sure there have been others that perhaps were more buggy or less ambitious or whatever, but factoring in the budget as well as the blown potential, its by far the worse. Most overrated game...

SoE really hasn't done very much marketing or hyping of EQN, the truth is most of the hype has been manufactured by an overly hopeful blue-balled MMO community falling for it again. And a year from reveal to release is a perfectly normal marketing timeframe for an mmo.

Vanguard combat would be antithetical to modern actiony-combat, so it would have to be something else that would get Vanguard players excited about EQN.

If they abandoned the abysmally retarded idea of level-locked zones to begin with, then that will help spread players out across the world as well. If not, it'll just be another themepark ride where you're funneled through zones more efficiently than a greased up snake in a tube.

Would have preferred to see MS leave the game console space entirely, which they were well on the track towards before this reversal. Now it'll sell moderately well. For shame. Its past time for MS to step down and another player to step up in this market. Either Valve with Steambox, or...

The real interesting bit will be how optimised the API layer will be for these consoles. Because there is still the issue of the current Windows / PC architectures still being orders of magnitude more inefficient than the consoles. PC may have a lot of bandwidth, fillrate raw flops and such...

In 2019 Rerolled will be destroyed by a league of tranny xbronies. There will however be a new forum where we will all complain about the '20'ers. Seriously though you are correct about the laws in Europe changing to enable digital rights transfers. Its only a matter of time before its...

One of the primary benefits for having 8 Gigs of fast RAM this generation is all the open-world games we're seeing. Sure you won't be able to go through every door, and there will be occlusion tricks to keep things within reason, but it'll be awholelot more open than whats capable on today's...

Mirror's Edge was a game that I bought on sale with little expectation, and while flawed and a bit shallow, was intriguing enough that I played through it twice as well as ran the levels individually multiple times. There was something surprisingly addicting about beating your previous best...

Cisco also reserved the right to update your router at its discretion, totally spy on all your internet activity, and ban you from their service and hardware at their sole discretion. Fortunately they caved in to customer backlash and backpedaled on most of that, changing their terms of...

It's pretty clear from how things went down that Microsoft was caught completely off guard by the Sony announcement and reveal. I mean, pants-on-the-ground, dick-in-hand levels of off guard. Couple that with their general corporate attitude and how badly unprepared they've been, and to me its...

With Ballmer still in charge, and all the psycho-delusional yes-men cronies thats left around him after MS cleared house of all the sane upper brass the last few years- I'm pretty sure they're all sitting around the conference room smiling and congratulating themselves on how kick-butt awesome...

Standard Keyboard / Mouse support on a next-gen console would rock my world. Unlikely to happen, as it introduces big competitive problems to things like shooters, etc. But there's just so many games (shooters included), like MMO's, RPG's, RTS's, etc that I still play that a controller just...

Fact still remains gamers are going nuts and cheering over the PS4 being more anti-consumer than the PS3, just because its not a total rape-you-in-the-ass like Xbone is.

Knowing how MS is run these days, and the absolute batshit insanity of Ballmer, I'd say they'll double-down. Plus they've likely already got legal agreements with EA/Publishers.
