Friend of mine flew from Virginia to see the last two shows in California. Said the band was on fire at the Roxy. I've seen them a few times and Ian never fails to blow my mind.

I've had the Yoder 640 for almost 2 years. My Green Egg hasn't been lit once since it arrived. It's by far, the best grill I've ever owned. Take my advice and get some ceramic sear plates from here GrillGrate Panels for Yoder Smokers YS480 or YS640 Pellet Grill

Seems I only post here to give Big Wreck updates. There cover of "Closer to the Heart" was released today with the re-issue of Rush's "A Farewell to Kings". Make sure to listen through the end. The guitar work at 1:25 is absolutely insane. Ian Thornley is fucking ridiculous with his...

Last night's show in New York was crazy. Ian's dad was in the crowd and he got emotional a few times, but it didn't interfere with his guitar playing. He was absolutely killing it! Pic from the soundcheck.

Completely agree on the Gibson issues. I have a '76 and a '88 LP Standard that are both complete workhorses. The newer chambered bodies aside, they are literally a completely different guitar than anything made in the past 15 years. I've moved to PRS since that time and never looked back...

    The Night Of

I predict he gets off. Chalky White pulls some strings to get him off (maybe a new inmate takes the fall) and Chalky uses Naz on the outside as "payback" for his protection in Rikers. Then they end it leaving you wondering if he really did it or if it was one of the other red herrings. Only...

Ian Thornley (Big Wreck) Solo Album

Album released today. Holy shit this guy is too talented. Definitely a curve ball to his usual stuff. Very laid back, acoustic, folkish, and melodic. Highlights are "Stop and Think", "Fool", "feel", and "All Along" which he wrote for his daughter. This type of talent is becoming more rare...

    Halo 5 : Guardians

I've been playing since last night. I echo everyone else that the single player is fun, however a bit "meh". The multiplayer is incredibly fun so far. I love the level escalation during matches that only allows you to bring out additional arsenal (which you have to acquire) at various time...

Palum, Make sure you check it all out. His solo stuff is pretty mellow, where his band Big Wreck is very Zepplin'esque with open tunings, time signatures, sound, etc.. He also had a self titled solo album under "Thornley - "Come Again" that was MUCH heavier. Between Big Wreck, Thornley...

Every guitarist on this board should watch every second of this. Ian's such an incredible guitarist. What's insane is his slide playing is as good as his shredding.

Ian Thornley (Big Wreck) Solo Album

I know there are a lot of Big Wreck fans on this board. Ian's putting out another solo album this month, however it's from a different approach. A lot of acoustic and final productions of his early demos. Couple of teasers...

Couldn't agree more. I have two Les Paul Standards, a 76 and a 88, and they play great. However these were well before the chambered bodies and the well known fall in quality. I also have 2 PRS, a custom 24 and a first year Mira from the custom shop. When shopping for those two I played...

I will tell you that I'm LOVING this guitar. That said, it's got a sound all its own and can be a bit Muddy at times and jangly at others. Sonically it's a beast and the sustain holds for days. As with all Gretsch guitars, you have to learn how to tame them or they will lose control.

Added a Gretsch White Panther to the fleet today. I've been wanting something to fit between my PRS 24 and Les Paul, with a bit more ring to it. I was shopping the ES-335's and fell across this. A Gretsch double cut with a spruce center block. I've ALWAYS wanted a White Falcon, but I...

    Ham's Top Albums of 2014

Second to Lazaretto, I've WORN this album out. Big Wreck's 4th album is fucking killer. Ridiculous talent in this band.

Steven Wilson - Hand. Cannot. Erase.

Awesome. Do yourself a favor and pick up two other Porcupine Tree albums. "Deadwing" and "The Incident". Both are recorded during the "Fear" era of Porcupine Tree and are amazing albums as well. Both are heavier much like "Fear".

Steven Wilson - Hand. Cannot. Erase.

Start with the last Porcupine Tree and work backwards. The PT stuff gets more Floyd'ish the further back you go. In Absentia and Stupid Dream are two of the greatest prog albums of all time in my opinion. After that check out the two Blackfield albums. Very much in line with his solo work.

Faith No More are back, bitches!

I got sent home in high school for wearing a Faith No More t-shirt that had the Star of David under the band name. Can't wait to hear what's coming. Apparently the first single will be called, "Motherfucker".

    Bicycling

I've noticed that too. Too much bend absolutely kills my knees. Plus, when I get out of the saddle on sprints I find I lose burst speed if I'm having to push too high out of the seat. Slight bend when in the saddle still works best for me.

    Big Wreck - Ghosts

Just a reminder that the album officially releases in the US in the morning. I've worn this thing out over the past few weeks. GREAT album full of amazing guitar work. Ian also remastered the first two albums and re-released them on itunes. Noticeable difference in sound for the better.

    Jack White - Lazaretto

Version I got was pretty cool. I'm a member of "White's "The Vault", so I get shipments of vinyl every 2-3 months with exclusives. My Lazaretto album was double dipped with all the ultra LP additions. The songs on the label are a bit odd. One's his son singing.

    Jack White - Lazaretto

Been to the store a few times during my Nashville trips. Really cool place if you are into vinyl and the slightest fan of Jack's work. Here's a pic from the other night. Literally touching the stage in a sold out house.
