NeverGrind: EQ inspired, browser-based single player RPG

There's no way local accounts will be converted to server accounts. They are significantly different in a lot of ways though the gameplay will feel the same. None of your data currently lives in a database which means I would be completely taking your browser's word for it that you are what you...

KS $20+ backers get account access on Friday, April 17th, so you can powerlevel all weekend with your sweet KS-only items while the peasants are forced to wait outside the gates until Monday to create their first character. The local accounts will not be wiped on launch day despite my fervent...

I made subtle mention of this in my Kickstarter video. It's the perfect game to play while bored at work. lol

Mmm, I've played it on my Kindle Fire and my iPad Mini. Must be some kind of bug... yay mobile testing.

Well, it works on mobile browsers, but I wouldn't call it great performance. It would need to be optimized further and more usable for mobile devices. For example, so much interaction in this game depends on hover events and mobile dunno dunno hover. Have you guys tried it on a mobile browser?

Daybreak probably doesn't even know who Lord Nagafen is... honestly, I thought it would be a great cross-promotional opportunity to work with them in some official capacity, but I'm not sure they would care to do such a thing. If the website manages to achieve some growth they may decide to take...

It's only showing test server accounts up there. So just a handful of people. It used to be all of the local players up there, but I swapped it to test season only to help promote the existence of server accounts.

Thanks Crone. Yes, I am always dreaming up new ways to improve the game. I think the combo ratings may go along with what you are talking about, no? There's a new leaderboard that rates the best combos in the game which is basically a leaderboard for skilled gameplay instead of quantity of gameplay.

Can you elaborate on this a bit? I was considering adding a speed run category. lol... not sure that's a great idea for this game.

Insane traffic spike yesterday. 5401 visits and I think the message was up to like 2100+ unique characters online. That's as much as like a classic Everquest server.

Thanks for the support, Rhinohelix. This forum is been my #1 supporter even beyond my friends and family. lol... honestly blown away by the support. I'll do my best to add more glorious features in the future. I really want to make the game more social. That's a big goal of mine.

It isn't explicitly explained anywhere. Just one of those fun things players have to discover.

NeverGrind: EQ inspired, browser-based single player RPG

That's actually a stretch goal. If the game performs well after server accounts launch I would love to put in character art. It would probably be in the style of something like Phantasy Star II, but a bit more modern and it would look like the monster art work. Yes, I think this is unusual...

I would not lie to you. My wife's cupcakes are seriously famous. Well, at work. Everyone begs her to make them and they actually pay her for them. After the kids grow up a bit we even considered starting an online business for her cupcakes.

I'm pretty sure you can mouseover the stat name on the character sheet for a brief description. I will say that, like EQ, attack power is a sort of "bottom line" for melee attacks.

I think almost every action RPG in the history of mankind has had the junk loot complaint. Yes, you can get the worst imaginable unique dagger from Hell Nalatos, but this is very rare. It is designed to require a little bit of boss farming to get some good stuff. I don't intend to require an...

This is quite possible if had a DoT on you. You may have taken a DoT tick the instant after killing the mob. It's rare but it can happen. Typically your out-of-combat regeneration will save you in this circumstance. Another way it could happen is with iron maiden or damage shields.

Yeah, I love them too. But you don't want to piss off the wrong people as a small indie. Publications might write you off over something that trivial.

lol, I need to replace those D2 sound effects. I meant to replace them all. Some are too familiar. I did leave in the EQ bone crunching noise though. I thought it was subtle enough.

I think that was your pet getting slain after you died. You didn't die twice or am I missing something? You know I considered programming it so you could pass out with negative health, regenerate health, pop back up and win the fight. I always thought that was a great mechanic and I can't think...

NeverGrind: EQ inspired, browser-based single player RPG

I could offer a quick fix for it, but it's not a perfect solution. Maybe I should add this in the options: Try entering this into the console (F12 in most browsers): (function(){ function shrinkage(){ var w1 = 1280; var w2 = window.innerWidth; if(w2<1280){ w1 = w2; } return w1/1280...
