I played a Ranger from classic to GoD. Archery damage was only worth it when Trueshot was up in Velious, unless you had a very rare quest bow from sky, or Primal. It wasn't until Luclin when we picked up Archery Mastery and Endless Quiver that archery became viable DPS without Trueshot.
