Yes, which made stuff like levitate matter. The area/dungeon navigation "skills" were a great part of VG. More than just invis or FD for sure.

Honestly i want to do this just to see the content again. EQ2 had some great dungeons and raids at least through when i played ( KOS ). Non-instanced raiding ( if it still exists ) on PVP servers is unreal fun... anyone know if the overland and non instanced raid mobs are still in game ?

I don't get the Brad comparison here. Brad's games had incredible designs, not shit. The game you linked had shit designs up front. Of course, Brad's world has its own problems but not design level issues.

Another thing that Vanguard did well although not as well as EQ and EQ2 perhaps. The Cragwind weapons come to mind, Hunters League, VT... always bummed that Trengel Keep didn't have better rewards other than drops off bosses tho.

just play with the companions you get ... the game isn't that hard as long as you have some CC in your party. I played and never thought of Min-Maxing, i just played it and enjoyed it on hard.

Who ever said that a shortened leveling experience was desired, the journey used to be the game.. now it is not.. that is part of the freakin problem. That is where RIFT failed for me, it was too short and they were cheap on content.

There may be communities, but one is gone. When the game is based around group based combat and you level like that 80% of the time a community builds around the leveling and reputations for players are very important. I have never seen that matter in an auto-match grouping experience game...

, RIFT did have some fun Dungeons, but way too few. Group based Dungeons while leveling in Vanguard = 100+, RIFT was like 10. Not to mention the end game ( original game ) dungeons were just the leveling dungeons with extra wings.
