I suspect you're over-thinking the stability concerns. I've seen gyms with box jump boxes made with pocket holes, and dadoes/rabbets are stronger than that. For a countertop application just about anything will be fine. It's not like this is a chair where you have bodyweight forces and several...

Snobbery aside, there's nothing fundamentally wrong with pocket holes so long as you know their limitations. Cabinets are one place where they're generally acceptable, especially if you also glue. As an added bonus they serve as built-in clamps, which you may or may not have in the right...

I don't know what else would work beyond fiber HDMI and a long-distance powered USB repeater. The latter can be a couple hundred bucks or more if you want USB 3.0 over >25 ft. There's cheaper stuff, but it tends not to work reliably. I have a server closet, but it just houses my networking gear...

Artistic styles aren't copyrightable anyway. Producing something that looks like someone else's work is legal imitation as long as you aren't reproducing a specific piece. People forget that information is not inherently owned and copyright is just supposed to be a temporary grant from the...

Something is wonky with that story. The real estate tax in FL is 0.74% for primary residences. $4.4M * 0.74% is ~$32k. A $90k+ bill would be 2%+ of the property value. FL property taxes are ~20% of municipal/county revenues and up to 60% of school funding. If they want to cut that source...

My lab/pit mix had a big mast cell tumor when she was 7. Surgery was ~$1100 and they gave her 2 years life expectancy. That was six years ago and she's doing fine.

And almost no host other than speed tests will even serve you data at that rate. Maybe if you're running a 20+ big torrents in parallel or backing up some kind of massive uncompressed media files. Netflix 4k streams are only ~25 Mbps. Practically speaking you're going to saturate the processing...

I get 985 Mbps up and down off my gigabit fiber (Frontier). Pretty damn close. From brief research it looks like your router's WAN port caps out at 1 Gbps. Hardly any consumer or even pro-sumer grade hardware offers more than that. I wouldn't pay for the extra.

I've had one for a while. Made a few bits and bobs. I'm hundreds of dollars in the hole compared to buying import industrial injection moulded parts. It's fun, though, and having the tools around enticed my then-10 year old son to learn CAD on his own. Totally worth it.

It's an explicit strategy... ...for this reason. As has come up here before, Nintendo's operating profits are on the order of the combined total of both the Playstation and XBox divisions. Clearly their market is not evaluating the product in the same way you are.

Anyone have pool nets they really like? I bought a cheapie from Walmart and it lasted one season before the net was full of holes. I'd be open to getting two - one coarse for leaves and larger debris and a fine mesh for crumbly organics that my trees like to dump in.

Follow-up on this post from last year. It took me an embarrassingly long time to get around to modifying my plane to accommodate this grip (it requires drilling a single stopped hole). I have a Tesla. They give me free trials of FSD for several months a year and I still don't use it because it doesn't work well enough. I'm not saying it won't ever work; the tech is obviously possible and inevitable on a medium timeline, but it's not there now. I'd LOVE a Robotaxi that really...

It's great for highway cruising. I had it drive 200 miles through traffic ranging from speed limit to stop and go, clear to heavy rain. It feels really janky for anything more exotic, though. Changes lanes aggressively and unnecessarily, and on surface streets I feel like I need to intervene...

Dude. Fucking doctor ASAP. Systemic rash is a possible sign of large-scale death of your red blood cells. Tissue necrosis is no fun. My dad was bitten as a kid, was on IV antibiotics for days and needed surgery, has a chunk out of his thigh that looks like someone took an melon scoop to it.
