    Prometheus (Alien 0) - 1 Year Later

Now, how good or consistent a movie is may or may not have anything to do with how enjoyable it is. For example, one of my favorites is "The Pest" with John Leguizamo. It is a bad movie. Even Leguizamo has disowned it. But it is fun. It is dumb, but fun. So, for those of you who liked...

    Funny, Strange, Random Pics

It seems that we are in another situation where we have a lot of questions (in random order) and really no good answers: Was he alive at the time of the bombing? (If not, then the entire issue of his being wrongly suspected has nothing to do with his death.) Was he killed because he was...

    Cheap PS3 game recommendations?

Watch for a sale for Grand Theft Auto 4, Episodes from Liberty City or just "The Ballad of Gay Tony". That one is fun, but look for it cheap.

Heavenly Sword is a great game. A little too short, but great.

Do any good video game movies exist?

My jaw dropped when I saw this movie. It was the first Dabney Coleman role I had seen where he wasn't an asshole. And he was great, in two roles.

    Saints row 4

After looking on the Saint's Row boards for the last few months, I thought I was the only one that loved SR3. To the new game publisher: I'm glad they are using SR3 resources. The motion is damn near perfect, and the visuals of the people are a good mix of cartoony and real without being...

    The Matrix (1999)

New crazy theory! Well, new to me. Humans are kept alive because the machines need a source of bad decisions to give them purpose, direction, and a sense of superiority. They tried it with humans disconnected as a test and almost self-destructed.

    Tomb Raider (X360/PS3/PC)

I don't know the capabilities of the radeon 6950 (current pricing seems to indicate it is pretty good), but I am running it just fine with a core2duo and 2gb ram with a nVidia 660, so you ought to do ok.

    Animated movies that surprised you

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. I saw it subtitled. Not sure if dubbed will be as good. The Emperor's New Groove surprised me. The trailer made the whole movie look like stupid crap but it was funny with a decent story, interesting characters. And right at the ending, when Emperor Kuzco...

    The Matrix (1999)

    Recommend a console game.

Saint's Row: The Third. It has no real storyline to speak of. It is still a little buggy, and the main city is not very large. But if you don't mind some sillyness, it is more fun than a barrel of Mandrill Baboons.

    Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

After the whole "Take one extra step and you fail the mission mechanic", I might hold off on any further Assassin's Creed titles for awhile. Don't get me wrong, fist fighting Pope Alexander VI (in AC2) was one of the highlights of any video game I have ever played, but the horrible bugs in AC3...

Science!! Fucking magnets, how do they work?

When I learned to fly seaplanes, my instructor explains the takeoff: "We open the throttle, lift up the water rudders (maybe these first two are reversed. It's been awhile), increase speed, ride up on the water bubble that forms in front of us, then move to the top of it and hydroplane." At...

The Big Bad Console Thread - Sway your Station with an Xboner !

I am of two minds on this. On the one hand, I wanted a phone like Derek Zoolander (smaller than a 9V battery), and on the other hand, the only problem with my nexus 7 is that I can't put it to my ear and make phone calls...

Grand Theft Auto IIIII - HDD City Stories

It is less important for me that is takes place in "Los Angeles" since they will change everything again. Whatever memory I have from GTA:SA will be useless. More important is the fun factor. GTA:IV was sorta fun with a lot of depressing crap. GTA:IV:TLATD was also kinda depressing...

    Marvel Universe stuff

Another benefit with a Carol Danvers movie would be a sequel where Rogue takes care of Ms. Marvel's unfinished business because of the stolen memories and powers. There was a comic book where Rogue broke into SHIELD's flying carrier to bust out one of Ms. Marvel's friends. He was oddly not too...

    Do you have health insurance?

No health insurance. I pay cash (well, debit card) when I see my doctor or dentist. Maybe next year I will look into some sort of high-deductible plan to cover something catastrophic.

    Computer Issues

There was a similar problem with (old) Toshiba laptops at a prior job. The touchpad and speakers were not insulated and touching either one could (randomly) cause a shutdown or reboot. Try to re-insulate the touchpad and see if that helps.

    FLAC Versus VBR MP3

With storage being so insanely cheap these past few years, start with flac, then make a 192k mp3 from that for your phone, laptop, tablet, whatever. Keep the flac around so that you'll always have a lossless version in case some newer/better tech shows up. As far as vinyl rips versus cd rips...

    When is constructive criticism appropriate?

Most professionals with whom I have dealt prefer having any issues brought up face to face, without the need for dealing with HR. I had one guy who was not my supervisor, but a cool guy high up in the company, who often talked about his wild exploits around everyone. I dragged him aside one...

    Skyfall

Skyfall gave us the first Bond villain with which I could sympathize. Silva lays out his "This is why I am doing what I am doing" and I was forced to admit that he had a point. Silva still has to lose and Bond has to win, but it added a little depth to the usual black/white characters.

    2013 NFL Playoffs

I remember that game. I don't think he threw the Super Bowl on purpose, but since Callahan made zero changes to the Raiders since he had been handed the team by Gruden, Callahan must have felt obligated to make at least some changes. Mostly, I remember the Raiders going into the locker room...

    2013 NFL Playoffs

Most amusing thing I have read about the Ravens/Pats so far (stolen from someone, somewhere): How badly did the Pats get beaten? well, Ray Lewis spent most of Monday morning attempting to dispose of his blood-stained uniform and denying ever having met his teammates...

    Gun control

Part of the joke is that .223 Remington and 5.56x45 are usually the same. Technically, theycan be different. You can always use .223 Remington in a 5.56x45 rifle, but the other way around could cause problems, particularly in older .223 rifles.

    High Calorie Meals?

I'd run this by her doctor (or any doctor) first, but, as suggested by some of the prior posters, look for "Weight Gain" powder. A mix of simple carbs and protein. You could probably get 350 calories in a few times a day.
